S3 - Ordered - New to the forum

After much thought and mind changing, I ordered myself a S3 today. It would have been extremely easy to go mad on the options, and I narrowed it down to the following;

Glacier White

Adaptive Xenon headlights
B & 0 sound system
Comfort pack with parking system plus
Heated/folding/dimming door mirrors
Electric lumber support
Extended mono. pur interior finish
Hold assist
Inlays 3D design black
Interior light package
Reversing camera

After reading a lot of threads on this forum on the technology pack and SD navigation, I decided against it, plus it wouldn't be used that much. My Tom Tom is also much cheaper to update than the Audi system, and I couldn't justify spending over £1,000 for a decent sat nav system.

The wait now begins, have been given build week 43, but this may change, and it will be well worth the wait.

Nice specification, did you go for 3 door or Sportback?

I concur about the Tech Pack / Sat Nav, it didn't make sense for me either for the same reasons.

I ordered on the 17th June and initially got build week 39, but that came back to 38 and now 37. Make sure to get your order number from the dealer and use the myAudi site to track it (check the forum stickies for the link if you haven't already done so)
 
Great spec and great colour, glacier white is stunning.

And you see very few with these wheels. Clearly you are a man of taste......didn't realise you opted for these wheels. Great colour and great wheels. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Agreed for the wheels... But I choose black paint ;-)

I wanted to add high beam assist, but because I have opted for adaptive lights, this prevents me from adding high beam assist.

I have to say red callipers do set the white off and add a nice touch of colour.
 
I am now thinking to add the black styling package and also the red brake calipers, any thoughts from anyone? I'm thinking that they will both look great with the glacier white!

I have just emailed my dealer and asked for the following items to be added to my spec list;

LED Headlights
High beam assist
Red brake callipers

He will probably throw a wobbly because I have asked for the spec to be changed again, but hey, he just wants to think of his commission that he will getting on the sale of a S3!!

Interesting how people have different thoughts.
I would have the Tech Pack sat Nav over the Reverse camera and ILP and even the ELS I have had all these on current and previous cars and for me the decent Nav is worth every penny. Even the SD version is good and no wires hanging around. Cheers RG

+1 for SD Nav - cheap option and is more than adequate. Red calipers really look great IMO - was initially tempted to get some spare front plates and have them coated red but actually the black ones look good with a red calipers behind/around them.

+1 for Tech Pack over Reverse camera as well! Built in sat Nav is a must for me, dashcam wire is driving me insane! Can't wait to hide all that away this weekend!
 
Personally I would only use the sat nav, the most, twice a year, and there were other options that I would make more use of. At the end of the day it's all down to personal choice.

I have now added LED headlights, high beam assist and red brake callipers, much to the frustration of my dealer. Will be worth the wait!

Same here for me, tech pack + nav = absolute waste of money .. I think I use the one on my phone about twice a year.

You can always get the SD Nav activated at a later date for @£500 if you start to feel a need for it.

I might add the SD sat nav at a later date, especially as it might annoy me having the rocker button on the centre console, knowing that it doesn't do anything. I'm also having privacy glass fitted, but my dealer is getting a glass company in to do it, as I want to have a say on how dark the privacy glass is, plus it's cheaper than the Audi factory fit.
 
I went with tech pack + nav but then I use my car for work and need to use Sat Nav at least 3 times per week. I average 20-25k miles per year so decided I wanted pretty much every option.

Regarding the changes, the dealers are fine with it as it is more money for them.

I'm disappointed to say that I cancelled my S3 order with my dealer, as he seemed to take offence that I wanted to change the spec. I received a sarcastic email from their Head Of Business, so I told them what they could do with my order, managed to get all of my deposit back!!

I am now trying to get the same deal from another dealer, or I am thinking, that if I can't get the deal, I will go for A3 2.0 Quattro Sportback with some options added for good measure, or I may even go for the saloon. It's a tough decision!!

I will keep you posted on what I decide.

If this is true, you should complain to their MD and Audi UK. I find it pretty astonishing that a dealer would act this way. I changed my options a number of times, and they couldn't have been more helpful.

I phoned Audi this morning and I made an official complaint about the dealer concerned, who said that they would file the complaint for me (probably you know where!!), and that there was nothing more that they can do, as the complaint is between myself and the dealer concerned, as it is a franchised dealership, so thanks Audi for nothing!!

Having said that, I have been in contact, this morning, with the dealer who supplied my A4 and they are happy to match the deal that I got, therefore I have re-placed my order with them, adding privacy glass to the original spec. They are a much smaller dealership, than the original dealership where I placed my order, and boy can you tell, the difference in customer service is far superior.

Just waiting to hear when the build week is.
 
Good to know the experience didn't push u away from an Audi S3 all together. Here's my baby :) might be painting my calipers red after seeing a few pics of a glacier white with the red calipers, wish I'd specced them now!
