Hello,

I drive an Audi a3 8p, with the stock Blaupunkt sound system and my rear speakers are sounding abit tired, i was thinking of just replacing them with some stock ones from a scrapyard, but then i thought i could get the BOSE ones.

I need your help with these questions :
  • Would the rear bose speakers be compatible with the blaupunkt amp ?
  • If i need to change the amp am i forced to get the bose subwoofer too ?
  • If i upgrade the whole rear system, its probably wise to do the fron then too. Does the front get an additional amp or do they run from the headunit like the blaupunkt ones ?
  • Should i go through the effort to get the BOSE system, or just look for some aftermarket ones ?
I believe this is the stock blaupunkt wiring diagram:

This information would really help me if you people would be so kind.

  • Yes

    No

Bose amplifier runs the whole system. It is stupid to upgrade rear before front and sub. Sound stage should be in front of you not behind. You should upgrade front and sub and leave the rears as they are!

For the effort and expense of retrofitting Bose, you can get better quality system, louder for less money.

Don't bother with Bose, aftermarket speakers with extra sound deadening would deliver a much better sounding system. I just started to replace my Bose, with Hertz fronts - you would not believe the difference in quality! OEM Bose speakers are complete garbage.

Thank you for your replies! The reason i want yo upgrade the rear is because i suspect one of them might be a bit torn. Then front is fine. Blaupunkt fronts run fro. The headunit if the chart is correct so additional wiring to the amp which is in the rear would be a pain.
So i wouldnt feel much difference fitting bose speakers in the rear instead of blaupunkts while keeping the stock amp?

Can't say about Blaupunkt, but I doubt that you will see much difference with Bose speakers. I'm going to replace my rear Bose speakers soon, so can donate my old ones. I would maintain that the OEM Bose speakers are pretty poo, so going for even a budget set would be a big improvement. Sayam does make a good point of upgrading fronts before rears would be the better to keep things sounding nicely.

Have you seen the Bose wiring loom?!

I'm hardcore into audio so if I popped my rears (disconnected in my car) I would prefer to disconnect them and then the money I would have spent fixing the rear can go into improving things up front - where it matters and where you'll hear it

Plus one for Hertz too!

Haha no i havent seen the bose loom but i believe that its pretty horrible to work with :D the main reason i want to upgrade the rear is because i have to replace them anyway they are rattling and i suspect them to be torn, so im going to be getting them out and was wondering if it was wise to upgrade while i was at it

Where abouts are you located? I don't mind helping if you aren't too far.

I would go for either Hertz Deici or if budget is healthier Hertz Energy 6.5" coaxials...will run off the factory source and wiring so you just need the speakers and collars if required. If you can, throw a sheet of sound deadening on the panel directly behind the speaker and on the collar/baffle too.

Im from lithuania so its safe to say im pretty far :D i can manage i was just thinking.of going to a scrapyard and getting some blaupunkts to replace the bad ones and then i thought maybe an upgrade was smarter :D thank you for your help so far mate!

Can anyone point to a guide for upgrading the head unit/speakers on this(OP's) car?
I have been looking for a while, and it all seems hap-hazard.

Ideally, I would like a guide that states what parts you need, and a link to them so I can see what it is an shop around.

I wouldn't mind doing a guide, but could do with knowing what parts.

For example, it seems I need spacers if I buy aftermarket speakers. Are these the ones?

Do I need a pair for the front, and another for the rear?

Anyone is welcome to PM for audio, help with security, trackers etc that kind of thing...

Can anyone help? I have removed the tweeter from the A pillar.

As you can see there is a red wire and a brown wire.

I have cut off the proprietary connector from the door speaker

I have bought an aftermarket component set of speakers which have a proper crossover, instead of the little thing on the factory tweeter. Can someone advise how I wire it in?

To be clear, what I am confused with is it appears that on the stock system there is a set of wires that goes from the head unit to the tweeter, and another set of wires goes from the head unit to the woofer in the door.
I assume this because the wires going to the woofer and tweeter are different colours.

How do I wire in the new crossover?

Sayam has given me a lot of help, but I am not understanding this part of the install one bit. It does seem like I am going to have to get some speaker wire from the door through to the A pillar which looks like a lot of hassle.
