hi all, this is something iv been thinking about and am curious if it is achievable opposed to really being worth while.

I have a set of Lcr brembos on my amk s3 and they have plenty of braking ability, but more to be anal and just wanting to tinker I have been looking at Evo 8 rear been i callipers, they take 300mm by 22mm discs.

What I am asking is if I get some carriers made up would they work without massively altering braking bias and would the servo be able to cope? I am aware this isn't a necessary upgrade but is it doable? Or a complete no?

Thanks all

Just buy a set of new discs and some performance padspads

I'm not just after the braking ability, it's partly to be anal and have matching brembos front and rear and the fact the rear discs are tiny on the s3. I know someone on here was doing an s4 rear conversion.
You can pick the callipers up for a little over £100 and I can get some carriers knocked up, Which makes it a relatively cheap exercise.

I'm sure there are other things to consider such as wheel fitment etc..

Like I say I am willing to except no as a no but just for a tinkering exercise is it fairly straight foward?

Very good point, this i why I asked first.

Evo uses a drum brake setup I believe operating on the inside or the rear disc

I just had a look on google and your right. Il bin the idea.

Although it doesn't matter now I'm still curious, Would it have been possible to use 312mm discs instead is 300mm?

how wide are the 300mm disc
312 are 25mm
tbh mate id scrap the idea.
you might ruin the bias if you go too big
even prawn who kills his brakes is
running mega hot pads has oem rear

Something like this setup be nice : )

Ofcoarse they are, I was having a moment.

Get a separate handbrake caliper.
I say do it, it would be cool

I like the enthusiasm.

I might aswell look into it a little further what's the worse that can happen, I just like the idea if anyone understands that.

you would want to up the fronts if you did them though??
they will look cool so if its show you want do it
i shouldnt answer with my own intentions.

If you just want got looking rear brakes, just google ECS stage1 rear brakes for Audi TT quattro, or Tarox also do a rear brake upgrade kit, both retain the standard rear calipers which you can paint!

I'm running the ECS Stage 1 rear's.

I wouldn't recommend them after the problems I've had with ECS brakes. But after a little tinkering they do look good!

illegal to use a hydraulic handbrake as a parking brake, you just need to retain cable-based system too

...which the system Gops linked to doesn't was my point as the system uses the cables to operate the caliper hydraulically... but yes what you said :)

didn't mean to come across pedantic there

if installing a bigger caliper the oem caliper can be used purely as a cable brake (eg dual caliper)

did ponder using these evo 2pots as hydro handbrake calipers (standalone), but to narrow and small pad size
much better small 4pot calipers out there that'll fit a 25mm or bigger vented disk
