Hi folks, new to the forum having just got in a very late B8 order last week. I think I got a stonking deal - A4 1.8T FSI (170) Black Edition Nav Multitronic saloon in Daytona Grey, on a 2 year business lease at £181.50+VAT per month, £1500+VAT deposit (works out at £236.43+VAT per month across the 2 years, though I can claim 50% of the VAT so it's even better after that). I think B8 factory orders closed pretty much at the end of the day I got my finance agreed and order in.

My problem is that I can already feel B9 envy coming on just looking at the leaked photos and spec. I knew this would happen, even though I knew full well I only got a good B8 deal as B9 was on the way! A part of me is wondering whether to cancel the B8 order and see what spec / prices are like on the B9. Surely, a B9 at the B8 Black Edition Nav level of spec is going to cost a ton more than what I managed to get? Rather have a BE B8 than a SE B9 if that's what it comes to, right?!

Sounds like a great deal. What's the mileage allowance?

Typically with a new model...
a: The discounts stop (currently around 7K off list on that model!)
b: The list prices go up
c: Standard equipment is cut back from the outgoing 'special editions' (

I'd be surprised if you can get into a low spec B9 for much less than 300+VAT on a 6+23 lease, so I think you did well. Also you probably wouldn't get the car until early 2016.

Also with new model, first two years' owners are unpaid development engineers while the new tech is debugged.

Ah thanks guys, very reassuring! If the basic trim B9s come in up near £300p/m on an equivalent lease then obviously it's a complete no brainer, Black Edition B8 all the way. I believe the official reveal is today, so we'll find out soon enough I guess... I think I need to get my head down over the next week or so and ignore the initial media excitement. From the leaked photos, the exterior doesn't look vastly different at least.

My lease is 5k which should be fine for me. 8k wasn't a massive jump up, but I certainly would have left 1000s of miles on the table with that. Getting Daytona Grey actually put £29pm on the lease which seemed a lot, but the wife insisted I don't get a white car for some reason, which was the only solid option :/

I can only echo what others have said above, you got a great deal ..

A B9 will be vastly more expensive, probably be 'basic' in terms of specification, and will likely have more issues as the new tech is debugged (TT dash anyone?) ..

Beauty is in the eye an all that, and I always seem to grow to like new models, but the pictures of the B9 I have seen so far do not bode well. It looks ungainly and a bit bulbous. Unsure of the chrome strip all round. OK the interior will likely be a new design, but I can't say I feel short changed (and it was my main worry when I ordered my S4) with the B8.5 interior and I've been in an A6, an Allroad and the S3 lately. Actually some things I prefer in the B8 (oil/coolant/fuel gauges).

The B8 BE will look so much more sporty and classy, than a bogo standard B9.

I think I would rather spend the extra £64 a month and get the new model.......

No doubt, the B9 A4 will be nice BUT the killer will be the price. especially as we all know how much discounts have been going round of late on the run out B8's

Me, I wouldn't pay list price for a B9 S4. No way!

I think you may find that Audi won't release a Black Edition straight away either going by the fact there is still no BE A3/S3 models

But its each to their own ... :hi:

Well, I'm also considering the fact that is "just" a 2 year lease I've signed up to... 2 years in a Black Edition B8, by which time the B9s should be nicely settled in in terms of price and any early issues. But I still want to see the B9 launch prices! When are we likely to see them crop up at leasing companies?

I wont be touching a B9 untill the facelift! that car is Fugly!

I understood that margins are low for the mass-produced lines like the A4. Audi has got to claw money back when launching a new model and there are always be people who have to pay for the latest.

I am quite lucky. Having seen the interior of the B9 I am so glad that I didn't wait for one.

I agree with Keef, not a fan. I know they are "photos" but if the headlights are anything like that..... and it has no soft edges. Everything looks too angular to me. Hope it looks better in the flesh. Audis normally are. And jimnastics, I'd let them sort the B9 out first. The B8 has been refined to the max.

i guess we won't have any idea of lease prices until Audi to take orders, which sounds like it won't be until well into the Autumn. So decision 100% made, I'll be joining the B8 brigade :) Just waiting now for my build week to come through. How long does it normally take for the factory to come back with that?

Just heard back from the dealer and I've been given a build week 30. Seems a very quick turnaround, not that I'm complaining! Are these build weeks normally accurate? With BW30, can I expect delivery in mid/late August?

I think you're looking at September. Typically it's a 3-4 week period from build to delivery. My S4 is currently scheduled for bw31 but it's been shuffling between 28-32 for the past 6 weeks according to my dealer. The Audi tracker shows it for 27th July, but my dealer says otherwise.

Yep had an A6 for two days and hate the "posh speed boat" dash that molds into the door cards, B9 has this dash too and I am not a fan, also the outside to an untrained eye looks too similar, Audi dropped a ******* on the B9 IMHO.

My envy levels have certainly dropped considerably since Monday, put it that way, very happy with my decision to keep my B8 order. I think a mod needs to edit my thread title :D Would have liked the s-tronic, obviously the advanced tech, more economical engines and I like the split exhaust looks, but I'm completely put off by the interior. For me it looks far too executive ("posh speed boat" is spot on Ash!)... save that for the A6 and above. I much prefer the sportier, compact look of the B8 dash.

To be fair until I see the interior in S-line spec with all black door cards, headlining in person, I will reserve final judgement.
Only just go my B8.5 so will have it for at least 2 years b4 changing it in.

Agree, yet to be one over by the b9 and hate the gear lever and steering wheel but maybe s and rs will be better.:fearscream:

I can't do with beige, cream or wood when it comes to car interiors.
Maybe the Sline/S/RS will improve the look.

Still screams of BMW though IMO.Not a good look to me

There’s lot of things i don’t like about the new B9 and I’m sure some of which will grow on me when i see it in the flesh.
But there is one thing i cannot get over! Don’t really know why, but i hate door mounted wing mirrors - Always have and always will!

A quick question for or any of you guys who have leased before. The only way I was able to get this offer on the A4 was through an online leasing company who are based up North, and they are running it through Newcastle Audi. Unfortunately, I'm on the south coast! I phoned local leasing companies and dealers, but no one could get anywhere near the deal (most were saying factory orders were already closed).

So my mind is already turning to delivery. The leasing company offer free delivery to any mainland address which is great, but I'm worried that's going to give the opportunity for someone to rag my new car for over 350 miles before it gets to me. Or would they normally use a vehicle transporter? Anyone had any experience with this situation before? What would you do?

Agree on the beige, cream and wood.

The main gripe for me is the steering wheel, I just don't get going back to a squared off center, the round center look soooo much better!
I only hope the Sline comes with a diff wheel or maybe the same wheel as the new TT.

@jimnastics - Speak to the leasing company

Some do trailered delivery, others do driven delivery & I have known some lease companys allow you to pick it up from the Dealer too

I've just heard from the leasing company that Newcastle Audi is expecting my car to be delivered to them on 30th July... this is all going a bit ****** quick considering I only ordered last Monday! I guess I shouldn't complain. Couple of questions for you guys, this is the first time I've ever ordered a brand new factory car so it's a whole new experience for me!

1. I didn't specify what wheels I want on my Black Edition, assuming naturally that I will get the standard if I don't, which is now the "5-V-spoke", which I really want. I'm wondering if I should have at least made that clear. Am I worrying about nothing? Can I request a comprehensive spec of my order so I can check everything is as it should be?

2. I had assumed that my delivery would probably end up in September when I ordered, which would have meant a 65 plate which would have been nice. Now it looks like I'll be on a 15 plate if it gets registered soon after it arrives at the dealer. Could I be really shallow and request that the lease company / dealer hold on to the car until September before registering, or is that pushing it?

I really like it - the S4 / RS will be belters - I like the sharp look they've got going on. Exterior wise I like that it doesn't immediately make the outgoing model look dated but the interior IMO is very nice.

The interior pics seem to be of the Audi exclusive range - the 'cooking' models will be much more aligned with the current trim levels in terms of aluminium / black look c/w soft touch plastic rather than leather wrapped.

The steering wheel looks like an evolution of the current SE style of wheel and again the S lne / S / RS models will look a bit more special. Probably a lot like the current S3 / RS3 steering wheels I'll bet - they're not that imaginative!

Jimnastics, to answer your questions, your car should have the 19" 5 v spoke wheels that you want as standard, I was told by my dealer when I ordered my black edition last month that they come with them as standard now, but worth phoning or going into your dealer to double check

It's not at all shallow to ask for them to hold onto it until September for the 65 plate, I'm in the same boat as you as its also my first new car from factory and the first question I asked was if I could get it on a 65 plate and the reply I got was absolutely!

I was in last weekend to ask for model and engine badge deletion on the rear, I was too late to have it done at factory but they can do that for me when car arrives early-mid August, they also told me I am welcome to inspect the car and have any extras that are available to the workshop fitted before I pick the car up on 1st September

All sorted, leasing company more than happy to delay for a 65 plate, and wheels are the V spoke :) The countdown is on for the 1st Sept!!

Had confirmation today that my car is currently awaiting shipment to the UK :) Dealer expecting it in 2 - 3 weeks, whack a 65 plate on then I'll get it in September. I still need to work out with the lease company / dealer how they plan to get it from Newcastle to the south coast...

Unlike many I do like the B9 model even though I've only had my current car a couple of months, you won't be disappointed with what you've ordered, all Audis are great cars and they date very slowly so enjoy it.

Just to shadow other comments..I don't think its a massive change in design to have an immediate effect with 'new car/old car envy' & like @Keef I don't like door mounted mirrors:(

Getting Daytona Grey actually put £29pm on the lease which seemed a lot, but the wife insisted I don't get a white car for some reason, which was the only solid option :/

Well, if Carlsberg did Grey Audi Colours……..;)

They'd say Tornado was probably the best colour in the world

Honestly, I think I am going to have a very slight tinge of envy, it's only natural to want the latest thing. On the flipside, I'm only going to be paying £181.50+VAT a month for 2 years for a Black Edition B8.5 :) Be lucky to get the very basic trim B9 anywhere near that price / contract at launch, so for me it's a moot point, I would want at least S Line which I'm guessing will be £100+ p/m over what I'm paying. Happy to save the £££ and take an 8.5 BE!

Only 3 weeks to go, very excited :D
