[June 3rd, 2015] Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Monthly Meet - The... (Mirfield, West Yorkshire)

Hi I'll try to pop over. Just joined this forum after returning to Audi ownership but have owned many Audis over the years and back in the day was a member of the golf GTI owners club who used to meet up in Harrogate.

never mind , pub is nice though, but i cant make it tonight which is a shame , that is probably a contributory factor of why i was a day early , next month then 1st july lol

Whether I get my car back from Audi today, depends on if I'm coming or not...

Enjoyed meeting up last night and sharing stories as well as seeing some top Audis. Also experienced the mighty difference between Jordon's mum's RS4 and my sensible A4 when Jordon's step dad blasted away from me on the M606 on the drive home. Thanks Guys.

Apologies guys, I've really been struggling to find any time to sit down and organise another location for the monthly meet with recently moving house, project managing my S3 and being snowed under with uni studies...

The suggestion was we move to the next location in-line with our new 'bi-monthly' rotation strategy, of which would mean the next location to be attended would be in Sheffield....

The Golden Ball Inn (Whiston)
S60 4HY

As there is such a short amount of time left until the next meet, would anyone have any objections to attending the current location of:

The Hare & Hounds (Mirfield)

Or if I can spare some time to contact the new location, would people prefer to try there?

@S3 Paul could you offer me any assistance here? As this pub is local to you...

Shaun.

I campaigned for moving the venue around the region but it fell flat on its face,
The very idea that it takes a lot of arranging is also wrong, Back before the internet car meets still happened, people still managed to all be in the same place at the same time.
"right lads... its xyz pub next month... same time , same date , Hope to see you all there"
That is all it took, 99% of pubs will need nothing more than a short phone call.
Im reluctant to pick up the gauntlet again to find the " we dont like change " brigade in full swing .

Seems a joke if you ask me.

A week away and there's absolutely no clarification of the next meets location or time. How do you expect people to plan ahead with finishing work or seeing if they can make it due to distance and time. Giving short notice especially less than a week away is poor. Members need notice.

Audi-sport.net is a respectable forum and relies on a good relationship with third parties properties. Just calling them up before and saying we have X amount of Audi's and X amount of people swamping your car park and bar room is imo disrespectful to the owners. Where's the trust with the owners if your just going to give them a phone call.

Nothing's changing because nothing is being done.

Sorry, there was me thinking it was a car forum?
How many people will turn up? given recent meets i would say about 10 people? maybe 12?
Thats far from swamped,
What should we do...? book a meal with the manager? Show him the cars coming? Ask to sign the guest book?
This all seems a little OTT, I told shaun ages ago... i would go to anywhere local... same as i did about HDD but was met with silence...
Now when its too late im the lazy one?

Moving the meet has been talked about (away from ASN) for the last 2 weeks.

I disagree that a week is not enough notice for ASN members or a meeting place, I'm sure the majority of members wouldn't have an issue with this (feel free to speak up if it is an issue, I'll hold my hands up if I judged wrongly) and the worst that could happen is that they establishment we want to go to says no. In which case we resort back to the original meet location. I can understand the night before or the day of the meet of course, but a week I wouldn't have a problem with.

I do have a problem with it being so far away every time, hence why I don't come every month. We need a set number of locations to move around to make it fair on everyone.

What I've said all along Michael
My time on and off here is a ball ache because I forgot my password when I swapped to another laptop,
The function to reset it has broken so I'm stuck grabbing at times I can get on devices I'm still logged in on. Such as now, kids iPad of all things !?!

Paul, just had a look at Winston so either one will do for me, Winston first but if most won't H&H then that's fine

As I said... I am reluctant to get dragged into trying to sort out other venues when everybody has issues.
I see it maybe different to some people,
My point of view is based on years of meeting up with mates at pubs / cafe's for a drink and a chat, ( putting the world to rights and getting new ideas on what to do next with a car I said I wasn't modding )
I've never understood why people with cars don't want to have a run out to meet near other members homes in return for them coming to your local ...
I'm talking back when people talked face to face... Not online,
Arranged things for the next meet at the meet,
It's easy to over plan things

It is difficult trying to please everyone, with my last club i went all over we had a some good meets at Elvington Air Base, Carsington near Matlock, our main one for Yorkies was Thryburgh, some used to travel miles to for a few hours chin wag but as you say it needs to be fair

Earl of Stafford?
I used to go to tvr meets there a few years back

Well, things took a sour turn in here! ha!

Sorry i've not been on recently, (only been to one meet so most of you don't know me probably). Went to the April meet, and the very next day snapped my achilles tendon, so been up to no mischief for the last 3 months. Haven't driven in all that time either (apart from a hire car in good old america-land).

If a venue gets sorted for July i'll try attend. I'm hoping to be driving by then, but not sure i'll be able to.

I know what you mean. You post saying 'right guys, new venue so we can reach out to the people that live miles away, I think X place will be good, what does everyone else think?' And nobody responds..

Where we meeting on Wednesday, Hare & Hounds or Golden Ball and what time do you all get there for ???

Just need the regional reps to make a decision, though because this has just been ignored for the last week I think it will be at the Hare and Hounds.

Unfortunately, due to some recent unforseen family news/circumstances, this months meet (tomorrow) will be postponed until further notice.

However, in the mean time i shall be contacting the next venue to organise our attendance. This is currently going to be The Golden Ball in Whiston, Sheffield.

Sorry for the short notice and inconvenience that this has caused you all. We will be back onto it as soon as possible.

Shaun.

And.... Im back in the room ,
Lord only knows what happened or why... but i was taken out/off this site,
As a result i was unable to finish what i had started...
On a facebook chat a couple of local members said they felt a bit "poh" about there being no monthly meet, I fully understand that family has to come first so shaun was indisposed , I spent the week trying to get to the bottom of who had stopped me posting or being able to look at this ...
In the end me and the two members decided to have a run to a pub ( large car park ) that was central to us ... We had a laugh and a catch up... to me its what a summer evening is all about, The fact that there was 3 cars and 3 members really made no odds, the car park is a good size and round the rear of the pub so is quiet, Country roads in all directions,
It was all sorted in about an hour and was a few members catching up face to face,

Come one guys! This weather is perfect for us Audi geeks /peeve to meet up, have a look round each other's cars, go for a drink and maybe a drive out afterwards! We really need to focus more energy on getting a venue organised and getting names down. All we need to do is promote it better and be more proactive in raising awareness! I think it has great potential to be a well known and popular monthly meet. I appreciate people's lives are important, I completely get it. I am more than willing to give it my all in getting this meet to where it should be!

So what is it people want?
Theres plenty of time before the next meet to iron out the issues...
I have no issue with travelling. But lets keep it fair to all. " ways to do that... one i tried and the other i mentioned before...
First option is ... pick a location that is central to all members looking to attend,
Second option... Every other month ( if thats easier ) move the location around our region,
Few of us a lucky enough to have time to travel to ALL meets but i try like others do to show my face regular.

Alternate between Earl of Stafford, Hare and Hounds and maybe a location further north for our North/East Yorkshire members. That way I'd imagine most people could get to 2 out of 3 meets without having to travel too far every month.

That's a good idea moving it around, i would be up for that, have you ever done a full weekend meet ? [camping or caravan if you one)

I'm currently waiting a response from the Golden Ball (Whiston, Sheffield) for next month's meet, i should have it sorted by the end of this week.

This will be part of the rotation which makes it fairer for everyone.

Generally, these meets are left to the full site shows such as AITP, ADI and GTI Inters... worth looking into ;)
