Dane's Phantom Black B8 S4

I spent a few hours over the past few weekend machine polish with my new dual action and the 3 stage autofinesse kit.

Got some pretty decent results:

And all waxed at the end:

Unfortunately it looks like I didn't work the first stage enough and it's full of holograms - back to the start I go :(

Cracking car @Dane ... I'd love to have spec'd black for my S4 but don't have the time or inclination to keep it in tip top condition and know I'd get annoyed at any swirls, marks etc. like I did with my Black Forester STi.

Must surprise a few people with MRC Stage 2 as well :blackrs4:

Thanks @TheFiftheElement I may have suprised a few people here and there :sunglasses:

Black cars are my favourite but you're not wrong it's a ballache to keep clean and get swirl free, but once you do, as my old RS attests, Nothing else comes close.

@Dane - Looking good Dane :)

Must admit having another black car would push my OCD over the edge, BUT I will say, when clean black cars look stunning. Problem is, keeping 'em clean!

Very cool looking Avant Dane. It just looked really at home in a Euro Ski resort. I'd love to have a drive through some of these places in mine! Kind of did this when I was twentyish but that was in an old beat up Opel Ascona with backpacks on the back seat. Both transport and accomodation.

@Bristle Hound Thanks mate - I agree - I like the evil side to a black car with black optics too.

Yeah that trip was great, we'll definitely do one or two more next year as well. It's just such a competent car - goes fast, does decent mpg and the interior is lush you can't ask for much more from a Roadtrip car.

Looking good dude... just need some more power now ;P

@<tuffty/> thanks mate - there's not a lot more to be got out of it I don't think, not without spending all the money anyway. It's great as it is tbh just not as exciting as you'd expect, but more power will have to wait until C7 RS6's come into budget or B9 twin turbo V6 Rs4 come into budget lol (or I get my hands on an MRC supercharged B7 :sunglasses:

LOL... I hear yah... I have pretty much run out of options too but then I think I have more than enough power to keep most things behind me these days without the need to spend eleventy billion pounds on anything else...

Next car I will get will be slower anyway... if I every get rid of the S3 that is lol

The attraction is the ease with which performance can be gained on a B8 S4, £1.5K and 4 hours later - there you go have a 150 more bhp LOL.

It does everything I want it to really well - it just doesn't have the fear factor the RS4 did. BUT it's got a warranty :sunglasses:

Mines warranted too... it breaks, I fix it... :D

Yeah, can see the attraction... the S3 certainly has the fear factor which is a blessing and a curse... this is why my next car will be a V8 Vantage :)

Not really done much with this lately, other than soak up the miles. I'm now well over 10K miles at stage 2 with no issues which is nice.

We took the S4 to Tignes and to Austria over the winter so I thought I'd share some photos of those trips:

Nice and clean with a full tank of momentum before the off, with Thule aero bars and Atera ski rack which I can confirm are ok at least at 120 8):

On the train by about 3am

8 hours later in resort

The car performed great, bit less mpg than last year, managed 22.5 this year compared to about 25 last year, but it was worth it for the extra 150 bhp lol.

And one photo from Austria:

Did a lot on unrestricted autobahn driving and I can confirm a few things:

1: Thule aerobars and an Atera ski rack are good for holding skis at at least 140 miles an hour.
2: If you're not in a unrestricted section of the Autobahn, German lane discipline isn't all that lol.
