Hi,

After what seems a fairly long wait ( 4 months ) finally picking up my car this weekend. Was originally going to wait til September but it arrived early. Not sure if it is MY15 or MY16....

.... anyway what should I expect and what should I ask when I'm there ?

Only thing so far was that I went for the non-smoking package so was going to ask if they can supply me the ash tray :p

Can't wait !!! Oh its the A3 saloon stronic 184 quattro :D

An exciting day ahead....enjoy. Once you get the paperwork out if the way, they should take you through all of the features of the car etc. Make sure you check everything thoroughly and question anything you think is odd/not right......there shouldn't be any issues. Also worth asking for some freebies. I was given a full tank of fuel, a nice key ring and an Audi coffee mug. Not spectacular, but a nice touch.

don't ask for freebies when you are there, ask / email beforehand. I got a boot protector mat £170 normally, some sweets, mmi cable for android/apple, bottle of water. I cant remember id I got a half tank or full tank of petrol though

Seems strange asking in an email beforehand ?

Did you just email and I say want free stuff please ?

Think id bring it up in a conversation rather that just sending them an email saying free stuff please haha

Dont ask dont get. Worst they can say is, no.

Depends how you ask . Cheeky hint way is best but i said no worries if you cant

If you are on good terms with the dealer and spent alot of money is it too much to ask for some freebies. I asked in cheeky hinting manner and wasn't specific . I thought they'd give me a full tank petrol a bottle of water and a tin of sweets but was happy to get a boot liner, decent one too .

My email was just a reminder as salesman often forget . That was a sarcastic comment

I think what most people think are freebies are just standard anyway haha

I got 1/2 tank of fuel, 2 MMI leads, a keyring, an umbrella and a bottle of bubbly. Check that the car has mats installed.

Also ahead of time I asked the salesman to get a boot protector in for me and a paint touch up pen which I was given a discount off. Saved a second trip where I'd be less likely to get any discount and would rather have the mats and boot protector in from new.

If you've not done the research already check out what options you have on Gap, wheel insurance, service plans etc as they'll probably go through that lot when all you're interested in is getting in you're shiny new car lol !! Seriously I bought Gap from Audi (£280) but didn't bother with the others. Wheel protection sometimes does not cover diamond cut alloys so check this (if appropriate) before buying.

The only thing i asked for was a full set of mats, which i got. when we picked the car up they asked what cable we wanted, we also got a full cleaning kit (don't know if everyone gets this anyway) an Audi mug and some nice keyrings.

Got a few things, one being a sketch of my car by a local artist with my registration mark on it !

I picked my car up on the 1st March, and this is the first new car I have collected on the reg change day.

It was a great day, and a bit of a party atmosphere in the dealership - they had a proper barister making coffees and giving out pastries.

But the handover was very slick and made me, but also the wife and kids, feel really special.

I got a decent discount so wasn't expecting much in the way of gifts, but I did get a couple of key-rings, oil top up in a cool carry case, and most importantly one of the chrome coat hangers that goes behind the seat. I find the last very useful for work. Also the cables and mats you get as standard

if yours is an S-line, make sure you get your boot net!

finally I had to wait around and do a survey with the branch manager, where he will try and make you say 'outstanding' to everything...

The legal profession doesn't pay like it used to.

I haven't even given a thought to asking for some freebies when I come to pick up my S3. A brolly, mug, keyring, and bunting outside the showroom to mark my arrival should suffice.

Whatever you get or dont get or dont get enjoy that special feeling of collecting a new car. Remenber to grin all day............

The chrome coat hangers are quite difficult to get hold of it seems! Was surprised to find one in the boot with a brolly, 2 key rings, a couple branded pens in the glovebox holders and the usual front & back floor mats etc.

Have to say I also experienced the branch manager survey, everything was great on my collection day and felt very special whilst I was there. Made for a good day!

Well thanks all, the big day is tomorrow !! Can't wait first Audi, first brand new car,

Spoken to the sales manager earlier and all confirmed so hopefully nothing will go wrong !

Have a Fantastic Day!!!

remember to try and take it all in, because the day will feel like it goes by in a blur....

good luck getting to sleep tonight! :yahoo:
