New 2015 RS3!!!

I just felt that it didn't feel quite special enough for £50k. But again this could be down to the funky builds that both garages have (Nardo with chrome etc). I'm going to have a gander at the Sepang one posted above in Cheshire Oaks and see if that changes my view.
You need to drive one. I didn't think it was going to be much just looking around it before my drive, mind changed completely afterwards.

Nardo with aluminium/chrome/whatever is just wrong! Got to be with black, or get a car with a colour instead!

Dealer told me they had no choice with the options on the launch cars from Audi UK. So you get the odd silver pack and lunar seats with the Nardo, yet no sports exhaust etc. Dealer had spec'd their own stock car with black pack etc.
Some of the choices Audi UK make for options etc, seem really odd.

Audi UK spec the demo cars to get them quick. So you get a right odd mix of whatever combination would get the earliest build week.

Agreed, hence my comment somewhere about why the demo cars all seem to have carbon cabin inserts - it's what they happened to have handy when they were rushing the first cars out.

Hopefully with mine being one of the first built they still have some left over

Is it me or does the launch seem a bit sluggish? Perhaps he hasn't engaged the launch properly as there seemed a dip in revs when he done it

He can't drive full stop!!

The vids of proper launches its much better than he does it. The revs do drop a bit tho as the Quattro has so much traction, but as the max torque is from 1600rpm up its not a big issue!

Was traveling through Sunderland earlier and had a quick look in to the Wearside Audi site. They had an all black RS3, not sure if Mythos or Panther. I have to say that I have put such a configuration together to see what it would be like as a stealthy car. However, I was really disappointed at just how bland and uninspiring (in my opinion) it looked in the flesh. That really surprised me. I don't know why as I have seen an RSQ3 pull off the look in the past, but this RS3 just didn't stand out in any way. Perhaps it is just me.

Has anybody seen the Matt titanium rotors in the flesh? I'v specced them but I'm kinda wishing I'd got the gloss black now. How do they look? They look really light in the pics, I was expecting them to be a lot darker.

So I had a test drive today but I'm really sorry to report not impressed at all. I want to like it but I can't, it suks big time!

Very bland inside, dash is boring, seating position too high even on lowest setting, steering feels numb.

It hardly looks any different to an a3 or s3. Not aggressive at all on the outside.

Sounds ok at idle in dynamic mode apart from that no soul at all accousticly even under load. Way to quiet

Did a couple of launches, honestly felt so weak compared to my ttrs.

When u pull away from junctions or roundabouts etc there is a short delay before the car moves, just feels like any other sluggish auto box I'm sorry to say.

The only plus point I can see is the paddles don't make the annoying clicking sound any more.

I don't want to sound negative, just totally honest.

My mates mk1 rs3 feels like a much more special place to be in all ways and feels more solid somehow. The mk1 feels more edgy...

This new mk2 rs3 feels overall, more generic, corporate even. Uninspiring and safe / boring.

Sorry but I'll stick with my ttrs which feels muchhhhh more beastly in every way!!

Did it have the dynamic pack?

The seat height concerns me... I'm pretty tall, I don't want to end up like that guy off the Simpsons

Appreciate the honesty. Helps people who are thinking of new cars!

I'm 6' 4" and fit no problem - car I drove has SSS as does the one Denty drove. When I got in and pulled away within 20 yards I didn't feel right - realised I was too high, so dropped the seat to it's lowest position and no problem (but head didn't touch the roof even in the starting 3/4 of the way up position).

I should add, my Wife (5' 8") purposely sat behind me and had no issue with space.

Good to know... I haven't specced the pano roof so I would have had to stick my head out of the window like Ace Ventura otherwise! Haha

Best thing about Mythos is that it wasn't pulled straight out of the Ford parts bin :tearsofjoy:

Maybe I'm just used to how low the bucket seats are in my ttrs I don't know. The lowest position in the mk2 rs3 felt a fair bit higher than in my old s3 8p put it that way...

Seating position and lack of a proper bucket is something a RS should address over the S version of the car.
One of the things I disliked about the S3 was the seating position. Surely the RS3 improves on the S3 in that regard??? If not that's a bit of a disappointment and not very RS like.
I'll find out on the 25th I guess.

If you're a 'bucket guy' I can see why you feel that way.

The RS3/S3 SSS are identical. Wait for 2016 when you get get the RS3 buckets I guess.

Well I think head height is a non issue but the seat feels to far away from the car floor / road...

I do love my buckets I must admit and find them far far comfier than the ss seats my ttrs came with originally. I kept the buckets from my old s3. Still mint, no wear but I am careful with them and I ain't no heavy weight if u know what I mean...

I'm not saying the rs3 seats were uncomfortable, they were ok but they also wernt that supportive around corners and stuff.

Jose I remember you saying you really like the ttrs but how on earth do you fit if you're 6'4"? I'm a puny 6'3" and need to sit in the footwell.

Having sampled the 8P buckets last weekend I know what you mean - the extra shoulder support is particularly good. Sadly I need the extra rear legroom for baby paraphernalia!

I've enjoyed the SSS in my S1 for the last 7 months so quite happy to have them in the RS3 too. If the standard seats + electric had memory I would have gone for them as the ease of designated seat position per key makes sharing the car with the Wife much easier! Amazed it's not an option on the A3 platform (considering it is on the Skoda Octavia).

TTRS? Never seen one, let alone been in one!

S1 I'm in the rear footwell, not even a child can sit behind me!

Ditto re memory seats. That would have been my choice.

I have my 2yr old inthe back with the chick up front no problem. Front sear goes 70% forward but still there's enough room. She's 5'7.

I was shocked considering everything I read on-line but honestly, really, there is no difference leg room wise in the back from the sss or the buckets.. the buckets actually have a thinner 'back piece' compared to the SSseats which are overly bulky at the back imo...

Yea, the difference is minimal I think. You definitely lose the 'knee cutouts' on the buckets though (not important for a baby seat of course).
If the buckets were available now I might have looked at them, would have wanted to test the fit of car seats etc though.

I'm only going part mad. You said:
"I would be all over a TT-RS Convertible, but;
1. I hate the driver only screen in the new TT. All too often I want the passenger to do something so I can concentrate on driving. The new Q7 seems to have solved this though.
2. I need 5 doors! (Though I could have had a 5dr beater + a fun TT-RS)
3. I'm not sure a hardcore TT-RS will come in anything other than coupe form - and for me, little sports cars are only good if the roof comes off, otherwise you may as well have a 5dr hatchback with it's extra practicality"

And I somehow remembered it and associated you with TTRS! I'm losing my mind...:fearful:

I had my local demo All day today.
All I can say is I 100% ordered the right car. Although an ugly spec it's an awesome drive. Silver everywhere including grey seats on nardo. Bad combo!
Coming from my 8p s3 running stage 2+ it's better in every way.
The power delivery is so smooth but still feels impressive. handles great. I Can't expect any better from a practical hatchback.
The sound is to die for and this was std exhaust pops and bangs...
Wow just wow! If you are thinking about buying one stop it! Just buy one..you won't be dissapointed!
B&O wasn't bad either..;)

Gotta say one thing I forgot to mention is the brakes feel effing awesome on the new rs3...! Way better than the old 4 pot calipers and discs...

EPIC is not a word that should be used to describe the mk2 rs3... Capable, safe, un-adventurous, quite fast, numb, allrounder... More like it, yes.
