Haha exactly the same here... Do I really need £1500 spent on Mag Ride and a sports exhaust? I've already rang three dealerships to find out if they have one with Dynamic Pack but no luck so far!
Had mag ride and felt quite comfortable even in dynamic mode
I compare it to the exhaust in my S3, so much more noticeable but each expect different I guess. I sat reving it listening to the pops with the windows down, loud enough for me...The demo I was in had mag ride but std exhaust. Way too quiet inside the cabin with the std exhaust. Bored after 10 minutes driving it with no aural stimulation. Ride was very good and better than my S1.
Sure enough Glasgows car was showroom car only. I went up anyway as I had an appointment just to see it and get an idea on my S3 trade in. However when I got there not only was there no car to drive the guy I had an appointment with was not even there and nobody else seemed interested.
The car itself, I felt was a dissapointment. The rear arches look the same as the S3 and the fronts are hardly noticeably wider. Nardo is not for me which didn't help. The rear is the best looking part with the huge oval tailpipes.
Coming from a 3 door I thought the smaller front door made it feel cramped inside.
Kids comments on the inside were "it's the same as ours" and then "aren't those wheels the ones from our old car".
Disappointing service and disappointing car.
Will go back to drive when available. It will need to be something special to drive though to make it stand apart from the S3.

Yeah, switching standard exhaust between comfort and dynamic made quite a difference to the volume but it basically sounded the same, just a lot quieter. NEED to drive one with sports exhaust! Now!
Couldn't agree more!Just back from my test drive. I started out curious to see what all the fuss is about over my S3 (8V) and left trying to make the numbers work somehow. The car I drove was this one.

I will own an RS3. I wasn't expecting that big a difference between the S3 and RS3 in terms of looks and interior and apart from some little design touches like the interior door handles, and the 15mm flared arches at the front, they are pretty much identical. When I first saw the colour and extras added to this car I wasn't that sure, but after spending a good hour in it I think Nardo is for me, with the black pack.
This car had mag ride but just the standard exhaust. However, the standard one when driven in manual / dynamic mode will pop and burble and crack on down shifts. It will also drive around without any drama or noise when required. What I did notice straight away was the power delivery compared to the S3. Where there is no sense of being pushed back in your seat in the S3 and you find the speed limit without any drama, the RS3 feels like a beast and pushes you back with a noise the S3 can't match, even with the standard exhaust. Ride was really noticeably better with the ability to shift the weight around using the throttle and brakes where required and steering was more precise and fast. Both myself and the sales guy giggled like school girls at the noise and sheer brutishness. This is an RS model. Be aware of the speedo as well as it is different to the S3 and where you think you might be hitting 80, you are breaking the ton, quite easily as well.
Is it worth almost double the monthly payments I am currently on with the S3? Hmmm. It is out of my budget at the moment, although they did try and make the numbers work. Still not sure and will need time to see one with the dynamic pack and sports exhaust and see if it is worth the extra, as the standard one was excellent for all the pops and crackles in manual/dynamic. Seed has been planted though and I think if I can get the numbers working in the future it will happen. I didn't think it would be that big a step up on the S3 and I'm left eating humble pie on that one. Plenty of drama and noise, just like it should be.
I really need to drive one! I left thinking about what else I could spend my deposit on!I didn't think it would be that big a step up on the S3 and I'm left eating humble pie on that one. .

Phone Audi customer services on Monday and tell them all about it and who they would recommend.Hi all.
Any suggestions / recommendations would be much appreciated.

Hi all.
I test drove the white RS3 today at Coventry Audi. first impressions - It feels so much lighter than mine, so much more driveable, I makes the original RS3 feel overweight. This one had the sports exhaust and it sounded awesome, performance wise it's on another level but not so much as I thought it would be, it's the handling and lightness that makes it so much better.
Visually it wasn't much of a step up but that was due to the spec (just my personal opinion) white paintwork with black alloys didn't really do it justice but it's a lovely place to be inside, especially with all the up - to - date technology.
I was ready to place an order (I'd been in conversation with them for the last few days and they said November delivery) but ended up getting into an argument with one of the sales guys there and storming out! (he was a right t**t) offering me nothing part ex - wise on mine and dismissing the part finance offer I had from my company finance people. I told him I didn't like his attitude before walking out (Daughter in hand!) So if anyone can recommend a Dealer for me to go to I'm ready to place deposit on Monday (as long as I can agree good part ex on my RS3) I've specced my RS3 to a smidgen under 50K so surely there's a Dealer out there who wants my business?
Any suggestions / recommendations would be much appreciated.
Regards
Jason.
But of a mileage difference there!I had good service from Stockport audi and Dundee
I wouldn't do that unless you have the funds to buy one and chuck the S4 in. It's out of my budget but I am still thinking how I could maybe finance it by eating beans and toast for the rest of the year or even bread and water...@Foxtrot_Oscar - Interesting thoughts FO
Might have to get myself a go in a 8V RS3 to see what all the fuss is about me thinks
Today I had a little trip into Warrington Audi to view their Mythos black car, followed by a short hop to Manchester to view one in Nardo. Both times, they had the matte styling pack and similar extras.
I must admit, on both occasions, I came away feeling a little underwhelmed. I'm guessing the only option is to drive one in a few weeks when one locally is registered for demo, but at the moment, I'm not overly sold... Sad Times.....
What were you underwhelmed about?
I just felt that it didn't feel quite special enough for £50k. But again this could be down to the funky builds that both garages have (Nardo with chrome etc). I'm going to have a gander at the Sepang one posted above in Cheshire Oaks and see if that changes my view.
