I'm not a massive audiophile but I would like a good setting to put on my A3.

It's got the Audi Sound System, and so far I think the base is vibrating a bit too much, but thats with my iPhone as I'm still trying to sort out the SD card.

So, if everyone could either post a pic of their setting, or use the '2 o'clock' method of where your dial is turned to that'd be great!

So far, my Treble is on high, base at 2 o'clock and sub left where it was.

(P.S I checked if there was a thread like this and couldn't find one, if theres a FAQ i'll die :p)

Cheers! ;)

Good idea :thumbs up:

Sound settings for each of the 3 systems available on the A3/S3 would be even better IMO

So, 'standard', *** & B&O systems

Have mine like so:

Sub: +2
Bass: +1
Treble: +4

It's all down to taste and what type of music you're listening to.

Also, if you're trying to build a list of all systems and settings, be sure to include the car model type. The B&O in my saloon sounds noticably different to the system in my old 3-door.

I have the Audi Sound System as well. All my settings are set to the 3 o'clock position, I find that it gets the best range for all the music I listen to... from Classical to Drum and Bass to Heavy Metal etc.
Take any EQ from the iPhone off completely.

I've the standard system and I'm happy with the settings all at default...

On my B&O I have everything to the max ! Including R/L balance !!! ;)

just kidding....

All at standard values just +4 for treble.

I'm sure this is a difficult thing to try and replicate. My experience of two 8V models with the 'same' sound system is that there is a significant difference from system and car to car. your perceptions are not going to be the same either................

Ears

I find the B&O as standard to be a little hard on treble so if anything I'd be tempted to leave it alone.

At the minute it's all standard except:
Bass +3
Sub +3 (most music), MAX (Dizzee Rascal)

I'm finding the treble settings quite interesting with some, like myself, cranking it up a fair bit and others leaving it at standard.

Beyond personal preferences, I'm wondering if there's an age correlation here possibly? I'm getting on a bit so perhaps my sensitivity to the higher frequencies is diminishing and I need to compensate. Of those who also push up the treble, how old are you? :)

I've got to say that I think the Audi Sound System is heavy on treble if turn it up a bit, but then too unclear when turned down. I keep going back and forth with it. Bass is also a funny one, some songs sound great but then some heavy bass songs blow the hell out of the bass almost to the point where I turn it down because I think it's going to rattle them to death, even if left alone on the 12 o'clock position. A particular song I have of Avenged Sevenfold is that bad on the speakers I can't hear the guitar, but then again I did torrent that song and not download from iTunes because iTunes don't have it -_- it's one of their unreleased songs.

If anyone with Audi Sound System could post their settings it'd be a great help.

Agree that settings are a compromise across different volume levels and different tracks; some tracks seem loud, some flat and some more dynamic.

The compromise that I prefer with *** is:
Treble +1
Bass +2
Sub -2
GALA to max but still not enough to get over the tyre noise increase.

It does sound relatively bass heavy at low volume, treble heavy at medium volume & balanced at high volume.

Was initially disappointed with B&O but with these settings dialled in it's much better now :applouse: :-

Might give that a go - mines practically the same for Audi Sound System - accept my Sub is on 2 instead of 4. Cheers for the tip!

Just got the standard system in mine. Treble around 2oclock and bass around 4oclock iirc. Will be adding my own sub or subs at some point.

Not sure how valuable this is. I noticed a huge difference between one 8V and another. So from my experience the settings on one car will not equate to the same settings on another.

THIS.

Absolutely brilliant, I was very unimpressed with the Audi Sound System, same as you was with B&O - I tried your exact settings accept my GALA (Dynam. vol) is on full... and it balances everything out a lot better.

I found that some rock songs sounded very flat/quiet but very loud on vocals but you could hear nothing much of the guitar/drums, and some dance songs were way too bass heavy and i'd have to keep the volume low as I was paranoid the speakers would blow! I originally had Treble +1 more than you, bass was the same and sub was on -2 less than yours. It seems with the sub turned up more it balanced the bass out, the treble down one stopped some songs sounding like they had too much treble, it's all round great. Not joking, a massive difference. It must be down to the sub taking a bit more of the bass so it lessens the strain on the speakers, but even if it didn't it's made a massive difference! There are still a few songs that sound naff on this system, but is much much better - i'd recommend people with *** & B&O to try it out.

+1 I wasn't hugely impressed with B&O, It instantly was the best stereo system I've had a in a car but it seemed flat and missing bass, applying those settings last night changed the output entirely, I found it to be abit too base heavy at times, but so far those settings have vastly improved the B&O system.

Anyone with Audi Sound System could try this one, been fiddling around and read through this thread again and came up with this, I think it's better than what i had originally.

That's what mine is on and it's good. But I have really noticed using high quality MP3's makes a huge difference along with a good SD card.

Is yours *** or B&O?

Just curious.

^ Found out this one was waaaay too much bass on certain songs, I was fearing for the speakers hoping they wouldn't blow, plus it was too over powering... So I've got now:

treble - 4 (I think - it's the one before the halfway around)
bass - 2
sub - 2

Seems to be a better all rounder..

....remembered reading this thread soon after I ordered so had to come back and see how they compared.

You have a good ear my friend, pretty much bang on with what I already dialed in although I've got a smidge more treble ;)

That's good to hear (groan!) lol !! - the wife keeps saying I'm going deaf but that's just selective hearing. Think I've dialled in some surround as well since then as I've taken to playing a few music concert DVD's which sound pretty awesome.

Ahh, so you've got those special filters in your ears too! Mine have been blocking the sound of nagging and requests for cleaning, mowing etc for about 25 years ;)

...... and you're right DVDs sound excellent. I managed to get mine to carry on playing while I pulled away the other day but haven't been able to repeat it? :/

I sometimes change mine depending on what I'm listening to. It's all down to personal preference of course and what you are listening to. It would be good if the car had an equaliser with different presets that you could flick between. Also sometimes if I'm listening to something from my phone through bluetooth I sometimes change between the presets on the phone which works fairly well tbh.

Anybody know what settings these were? Just a blank square shows on my phone

Should be ok now Gaz my server had gremlins for a few days.

What do you guys have the surround set to? Min/middle/max?

Gone again! Is anyone able just to write the settings in text? I've got a 2019 A3 facelift A.S.S. (with no subwoofer controls) so looking for settings that work for others
