Hi guys just had a break pad warning flash up on the DTM any ideas how much these cost or any part numbers?

Hey Imotepify,

Without being rude. But have you actually checked the front pads?

Im not trying to ask to make you look stupid there is a legit reason I ask.

None the less to answer your question the front pads

From TPS - so trade price - £63.62

Hi, have had a quick look but hard 2 see tbh without taking the wheels off so will probably get my mechanic 2 look over it. Im just getting an idea of cost, do you know the part number? Why do you ask if I have checked the pads, is there a common fault with the sensors?

You can see if you look from the side. its quite visible. And it will only warn for the front disc as there is no pads on the rear.

As for the pads part numbers - 8E0698151G

And the sensors can play up but that was not for the reason i mentioned it. Report back on the pads and let me know :)

thanks for the part number, will try and look at the pads but need 2 get it sorted asap as have a 4 hour drive on sat and 4 hours home lol. Any ideas as a rough guide on how much the pads have left once the sensor kicks in?

I think when there is 2 or 3 mm left.

Just out of interest does any of your headlights flicker? and the warning are u getting it when you putting the ignition on or when u pressing the brakes?

Thinking about it the car only past its mot a few weeks ago and has only covered 150ish miles so I'm thinking that the pads should be fine. I've read about the wire getting cut by a lip on the disc or low fluid level throwing up this yellow warning so will look into it at work.

Thanks for your help,as always lol will report back with my findings :)

Pads are getting a bit low but thought they wouldn't throw a warning yet will get them changed this month with the service :)

Well that is good in that case :)

Good job it was only that otherwise you would force me to type out an essay why the light is coming on :)

Someone did say that the 2.0t is under a recall 2 do with the brakes but I'm not sure about this, I'm wondering now what you were going 2 say lol

I have not heard anything about a recall.

And don't let it worry you. If the light comes on and its not your brakes then you know were to go to get your answer :)

Lol now I'm worried that it's not the pads, they have around 4-5mm still on them do you think this sounds about the correct time for them 2 play up?

Yes mate, he looked at the rears also. Do you know the latest part numbers for the oil pickup pipe and cam follower as going 2 get these done at the same time as the cam and aux belts with the water pump and 4 new pilot sport 3's gonna cost me a small fortune lol

Ps thanks for all your help :)

Sounds good.

And of course I do :)

Oil pickup pipe - 06F115251B
Oil pick up replacement rubber seal - N0282222

Cam follower - 06D109309C

You can buy the kit from TPS which includes the belts trade price £105
waterpump - £32.71

I would think for all and all with tyres probably £1k at best.

Recent experience I had with my brake warning light turned out to be the pad sensor wires were routed incorrectly which was making the wires tight and pulling on the connection which put up a false brake warning light. Doubt it's this if you've not had any work done recently but you never know.
