Hi guys

I've got a problem with my drivers windows that I don't think is the usual problem with the clips.

A while ago I had a problem with both the front windows only working when they felt like it (passenger side was the worst) so I took the passenger door card off and attempted to remove the motor.
When Ithe looked like the windows cable was wrapped around the motor I just put it all back together and all the windows started working again.

Over the past couple of months the drivers window started playing up again and only goes down when it feels like it.

But now it won't work at all.

When I press the button to open the window I cold hear a click so I took the door card off to see if it would spring into life like the passenger side did but it didn't work.

While I was there i could hear the click sound coming from the motor.

I then put it all back together an thought I would see what happened if I tried to open and close the windows using the key in the drivers door.

So I yrned the key in the unlock position and the two rear windows and the passenger window went down but the drivers windows stayed put.

I then turned the key the other way and the two rear windows went up but the passenger windows stayed down.

I then repeatedly turned the key left and right and eventually I got the rears and the passenger to go up together.

While doing all this I also noticed that when I turned the key to bring the windows down, only the drivers door is unlocking (they all unlock from the fob).

I would put it down to duff drivers motor but when it does work it works really well.

Anyone know what's going on? ?

P.s

Sorry for the long post but it sometimes helps if you know a bit of history.

Sounds to me like a window reg. They do go alright. That's my guess.

Thanks for the reply ;)

What exactly is it that goes on them?

When I had the door card off the cable...etc all looked in good condition.

Dpes it sound like it working? Like a crunching noise?

Or does the motor sound fine but it doesn't move?

Or does nothing happen at all? ?

I just get one click from the motor when I press the button.

Check the wiring, then maybe the switch. I know the drivers switch in mine is starting to act up but in a different way. Last and worst case is the motor.

I have had an intermittent problem with my passenger side window over the years. A couple of weeks ago it stopped working altogether.

I removed the interior panel, checked the clips, they were fine. Looked at the cable mechanism, also fine. Checked the wiring, fine too.
I could hear the motor clicking with the switch but it wasn't moving at all.

Next I removed the motor and was able to push the glass fully up to it's closed position. With the motor not attached to the mechanism I plugged the cable back in and tried it again, no life in it all.
So going by this I assumed the motor was dead.
Got a price for a new motor, £300! So instead I used the parts database, got the part number and eBay'd it.

Fitted the used motor yesterday and all works perfectly now.
This is also a good opportunity to WD the moving parts.
