So got call from audi yesterday inviting me down to have a look at trading my 8p s3 in I had nothing better to do today and thought well I will atleast get a cheeky test drive in something. 3 hours from walking in and I've got an 8v s3 on the way, 63 plate estoril blue hatch with 7k on the clock. Few options nothing spectacular got pano roof, dsg few other bits. Not spent much time in the 8v section so anything I should know or look out for?

Cool! Welcome aboard!
What are your first impressions compared to the 8p?

Great cars, but RS3 is about to come out which will affect residuals

Will it affect residuals? Are they not different levels of car. No offence to anyone who has or is buying an S3 (wish I had one) but the RS3 is another tier up. Same as S4 to RS4! I may be wrong but I don't think it will affect the S3 at all come resale time.

I disagree but each to their own. Both have their place and will have decent residuals for some time yet IMO :)

Love the thread title BTW, sounds like you went out to do the weekly shop! ;)

That's just great, I love these stories of buying on impulse, in my experience they tend to be more successful than those where the buyer has spent months analysing data.
The RS3 will not affect S3 residuals at all. Enjoy and keep us updated on your new motor......

Was a bit of an impulse the one I've bought isn't the one I drove, it was a saloon that I had a spin in. Yeah I got a pretty good deal ended up paying an extra £20 a month over what I was paying on the 8p and 2 years free servicing thrown in which kind of sealed the deal as the 8p is due service and cambelt.

I didn't have a clue about Audis. Been a Vauxhall man since passing my test. Had a mk7 g**f gtd on order, when 1 Sunday afternoon the wife and I were bored and decided to have a mooch round the Audi dealers. 2 hours later and I'd ordered a new A3 S Line and had to cancel the VW order. Best car I've owned so far by a mile. :salute:

I am not saying the residuals are bad, but they are affected. Of course they are affected.

Used S3's were only discounted by dealers by up to 10% up to a year old. The S3 was the highest in it's class. Now that is the RS3, and when these are used / discounted, this all has a knock on effect on models lower in the range.

Quick question is handsfree standard? I just can't see any mention of it on the spec list it has sd card sat nav that would mean you would get handsfree on the 8p

and by residuals - I'm talking about the sale of the car - not PCP deals which are all influenced anyway

Did you price a new one up? Sometimes you can get a new car cheaper than a used depending on APR etc.

This is with 3k down which is what you can get off one anyway, but gives you an idea:

Finance Calculator Explore models Audi Audi UK

Nah didn't price a new one up looking at that if I added dsg and the other options it would be a fair bit more and also I didn't put down any deposit

So picked her up yesterday pretty impressed with everything so far, love the colour and pano roof but as mentioned around here the standard stereo is ****. So looking to change door speakers and rears, that's my only niggle at the moment

Nice spec! i bought a year old s3 a few weeks ago with basic sound system and also came from an 8p s3, the sound system isn't great especially after being used to the bose i will be looking to do something with it but not quite sure what yet.. i dare say if it wasn't for having bose previously i wouldn't of think it was to bad.

The optional B&O sound system in S3 top notch. My friend with a Bose in her new Cayenne GTS was jealous.

So some pretty terrible pics I took the day I picked it up. Stereo is doing my head in now getting a few quotes to sort it all out tomorrow.

What coloour is she? How do you like the SD card sat nav?

She's estoril blue, tbh not used the sat nav yet. I'm just happy you can put full postcodes in as oppose to the rnse where you could only put 4 digits in.

Thanks I love the colour more than I thought I would, if it had b+o it would be perfect.

I loved Estoril but missed the boat for it as an option, very classy although love my Glacier and Sepang is also very good!
Pity about B&O but the car as a whole won't disappoint...

Yeah she doesn't disappoint, yours is lovely and a great spec. If I was a little more patient and not as spur of the moment that is the sort of spec I would of held out for.

Lovely car, enjoy :racer:

Love the blue too, think if I had an extra £2k burning a hole in my pocket I'd have spec'd that, and we just would have gone to Butlins on holiday this year.......

*runs to check ordered car is defininitly at status 20 ....

Let us know what route u decide to go down with the sound system :)

Smart that mate, cant have had your old s3 long haha. Let us know what you decide about your speakers.... Tempted to do somthing similar

Little update, got a quote for hertz 3 way speakers and 10 inch sub fitting all powered by a hertz 4chan amp. Just now gotta find the time to get her in and all fitted up.

What kind of price is that mate? That u fitting it or them?
£950 including fitting, I could probably do it myself as I have in the past, but I know with these guys it will be spot on.

Thats not to bad. Yeah know what u mean I've done mine in the past but would rather get it done properly plus I can't be bothered haha. Is that all the speakers upgraded and sub going in the spare wheel?

Sub will go in a small box in the boot gonna try fit amp under the boot floor. Not doing the rear speakers at the moment I was advised not to waste the money as they will not make any difference unless I was sat in the back.

Sounds good! I'll have to see about it when I get home. Only had my car 4 weeks and been offshore for 3 weeks of them so I'll see how annoyed I get when I'm home lol

I will be surprised if you don't get annoyed.
