Hi all,

Whats everyone's opinion on warranty direct?

I did a quick quote last night and they called me back today giving a £100 discount which worked out about £36 a month.

Knowing what warrantys are like i was quite skeptical however they guy stressed that they cover for wear and tear when most other warranty companys dont. He also said that audi forums recommend this particular warranty.

Am i being pulled into the sales pitch or is it a good idea?

To be fair (not that I'm with them but I was also looking at warranty) but warranty direct do seem to get the better reviews when you google.

Not that they're perfect and honour every claim from what google says...

Looking at their website -

UNLIKE LESSER WARRANTIES FROM OTHER WARRANTY COMPANIES AND MANUFACTURERS, BOTH PREMATURE AND NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR RELATED FAILURES ARE COVERED BY ALL* WARRANTY DIRECT POLICIES.

* Unless the Warranty Direct policy is a renewal or if it was taken out within 30 days of the original manufacturer warranty expiring, Wear & Tear claims are subject to a 90 day exclusion period.

Meaning that for the first year only wear and tear is covered? Seems so.

Wouldn't waste my time and money with one.

£36 a month over 3 years is over £1200. Which is going to cover or go a long way towards a repair. If you don't claim and have the waranty you just set fire to over a grand

We deal with warranty companies daily as our workshop looks after a local sales pitch.
Shocking usualy !!
Naturally they will always look not to pay out. They somtimes will only cover so much of the bill, they won't always cover all of the garages labour charges, or the diagnosis charges which would both come back to you.
That said, they cover plenty of other components. Hit & miss

Have a look at the AA Parts and Garage cover, I have had it for a few years and never had any problems with it....defo worth looking into.

Err, no. It means wear and tear claims are NOT covered for the first 90 days after you take out a policy, unless you're renewing a policy, or your policy follows on from the expiry of the manufacturer warranty.

Basically to stop you realising that your engine is about to expire due to wear and tear, buying a policy and then immediately claiming.
