What have you done today?

Just skinted myself and bought new discs and pads all round. Hopefully they arrive before weekend so i can fit them
 
Just purchased some 034 Motorsport Top mounts as my LCR ones look a bit tired after 2-3 years on the car.

Slightly harder as well than the LCR ones but not as teeth shattering as the Powerflex black series apparently would be :)
 
just bought my self some OZ supperlaggera alloys 18" gloss black. also 4 brand new Michelin PS3 tyres.

changes front drop links, track rod ends, ball joins and added some new seat Leon Cupar top mounts today car feels more solid and stiffer ready for 4 wheel allingment doing Thursday carny wait.

I'm not going to be building it. I have modified the case, the output shaft and some other tweaks, like selector forks and diffs, Stripping the the box is easy, these are the only photos I've taken.

Ok... maybe some more details on the modifications would be useful at least... there are a fair few high power S3's kicking about these days so would be good to document these mods and upgrades

not as interesting as Andrews gearbox stuff, whilst ferreting around in the trunk lid trim:

removed the ali trim piece, sand down corrosion and repainted
removed upper trim and changed all bulbs in high level brake light, 4 had gone but its such a pita to get to, i'll spend the extra and change them all

my cheapo rear wash fix is working fine, although I did get a little grief for robbing a nearly empty soap dispenser

I concur with Andrew on the gearbox strip, its super easy, re shimming for new bearing may be a bit more a faff though.
 
Bought new front tyres over the weekend, goodyear f1 as2's, so far happy.

The tyres they replaced were barely legal conti sportcontact3 but when trying to floor it out of my favourite junction in the damp with the tc off exepecting the back to come out the car just flew up the road. :racer:
 
my michelin PS3 tyres turned up yesterday and are now on the car with my new summer wheels.
carnt believe the grip and also the ride is so quite sounds like I'm gliding not a bit of noise.
4 wheel alignment is booked in for Monday so that will change a lot due to all my wheels are ou, never been done after all I've done to it.

So i took my mom out yesterday and she snapped my door release cable on the passenger side, after removing the door card (and seeing the snapped cable) I decided to take a go at installing my door warning lights which have been laying in the cupboard for months since the door card is already off,.

the end result, it is not recessed like the facelift model door warning lights and i really didnt have the energy and time to make the recess, all i need to still do is wire it up, awaiting on the connectory plugs and i need to remove the sharpie marks i made for the outlines

I replace the waterpump and oil cooler in my mk2 finally! It's only taken me a month!! lol Still got the cambelt to do, then hopefully turn up to GTI Inters in it! :)

popped over to my parents for a bbq, had my DA and the rest of my cleaning stuff in the boot so gave his stag a clean seeing as it was out of the garage

Samurai how did you get the badge and surround off the grille? Im after doing that with mine at some point.

also yesturday i fitted my new discs and pads rear calliper pistons were seized so managedto free them up and done my wrist in too so thats goosed now. The rear pads still had about 7mm left on them but the fronts were fudged only about 2mm left so glad there changed now. Found a broke rear spring tho so on the lookout for a lowering kitnow. Also today i had wheels balenced and the tracking done :)
