Looking at getting an s3 8p next year and want to go stage 2 streight away. Should i go manual or will dsg be fine with stage 2. And with stage 2 would i have to upgrade the clutch on a manual? Thanks in advance!
DSG is brilliant. Test drive both and you'll know. People who don't rate DSG clearly haven't used one/used one properly. I never thought I'd ever go away from manual but even the missus beat a manual S3 off the lights the other day and she weren't using the built in launch control!!
The clutches hold up better I've learned today from AmD. They will easily cope with stage 2+ whereas the manual variants can struggle...apparently.

The only thing I which can be a little annoying is when you're in manual mode and you want it to hold a higher gear, it can sometime shift down without you wanting it to. Apart from that, it rocks!!

A stock manual clutch will need replacing at around 310-330lbs,which is about Stg1-2....it can be replaced with clutch setups good for up to 570lbs if required.
The DSG is good for over 400lbs with appropriate software, and Decked is the man to ask re mapping the DSG.
