could the faulty wheel speed sensor be the cause of the haldex issue?

I don't believe it to be related but I am not discounting it.... really depends how HPA's firmware handles the lack of any ABS signal.... the OE haldex copes so HPA's should manage too but who knows...

However... there was no ABS issue when it faulted the first time and the car drove fine for three days after the ABS light came on only for the HPA to fault out yesterday morning.... I kept an eye on the status LED's as HPA asked while this was happening and it stayed a steady green suggesting no problem... this has been fed back to HPA and they have replied this morning with info on a pending firmware update.

Until this happens though I have disconnected the HPA cable and I am back on OE haldex control... I will be sorting the ABS issue out when I have some time off work soon

Any recent outings with the Vbox?
Interesting to see if the HPA changes the numbers at all

Not had a chance yet.... plan to get a map tweak first and sort the ABS sensor issue first...

Just finished reading this start to finish, only took like two weeks as I only have a PC to read on at work (person PC is set up for sim racing) and my fear is I now have to go back and start again with a note book to list off what I want/need to get, and what I need to really do some research into to figure out what route I want to take.

Where did you source your 750cc injectors? I want to get a set of them next.

eBay (search 750cc Bosch)... I am currently debating on an injector swap... not sure what to go for and have no real reason other than to ensure I have enough head room if I decide to change the compressor wheel to something more fruity in the future...

I do plan to introduce a swirl pot at some point to so that I can be sure my fuelling system is as solid and reliable as it can be :)

ID1000s?

Apparently give a good idle (I got some for that reason)

This is what I'm going to have to do.
Right now unless I have the tank more than 1/2 full if I corner hard left the fuel system picks up a little bit of air and the ECU triggers a lean trip and cuts the revs to 3000 before a reset.

I'll have an RS pump and swirl pot fitted next.

Why you don`t use launch control?Nice vid,but to short :)

PS.-awesome car :yahoo:

Don't know about tufty's pride and joy but I wouldn't subject the drivetrain on mine to that.
I know a good few people with snapped couplings or damaged boxes doing that.

Rebuilding gear boxes and rear diffs arnt cheap trust me..

Launching will twist of snap shafts, crack the gearbox case and don't forget the clutch plus lots more

I didn`t had those problemes yet,but sometimes i`m using lunch control for fun.
Before i had a A4 quattro(the real one, torsen) and in 4years of ownership and 80k miles i didn`t have any issues, just a clutch kit changed and a lot of torque for fun.

Clearly didn't have enough power then lol

Try the same trick with around 500ftlbs instead.

500??No,it was just low 370 :)

This is what tufty and I are talking about.....you're asking about using launch control, and we're explaining why neither of us,nor anyone else would advise launching cars like ours, with big turbos, and a LOT of torque, through these drivetrains.

I understand Alex your point;they are not to many cars with 500+ bhp and 500+ torque, the most of us are in 350-400bhp and 350-400ft lbs torque range, which i suppose is not so bad for drivetrain to play time to time.

We done now? :)

Launching breaks things, I am not interested in breaking things and I am far too mechanically sympathetic to want to do it (too often)... the end...

You can't really compare the drive train of an A4 quattro to an S3 quattro... mechanically different and entirely plausible that the A4 setup can handle the abuse more than the S3 setup...

Not saying I haven't launched or that I won't launch... I don't do it on cue or by request :)

Tuffty just a quick one. When installing an inline fuel pump, would it be okay to use the power going to the in tank pump? Or would you only recommend doing it the way you did with a new relay and running new wiring to the pump so they're powered separately

Use a relay mate...

Thanks for the diagram. I'll buy a relay and save that job for another weekend. My current electrical gremlins will be the end of me!!

Just had a good look through how you wired it up.

I think I would prefer to have the relay near the existing in tank fuel pump as this will make it easier to splice into the wire to switch the relay on.

My question is about what constant power source to use. I have a power cable from the battery to an amp nearby, would it be okay to use this? I'm guessing not as it might not be too constant of a power supply because when the amp is drawing power the pump might not get enough? I don't know how much power the pump really needs hence why I'm asking.

Should I just run a power cable from the battery along the fuel line? This seems an easy alternative

How's the update on the HPA? Switched the abs sensor yet?

Not done the ABS sensor yet... I believe the haldex takes a speed signal from the ABS unit and will still produce a viable signal even with a sensor down as there are 3 others to take up the slack... this is certainly the case on my A2 which has no gearbox speed sensor and takes speed from the ABS... I had a front right sensor out on that for a few months and still had a speedo so while not ideal it does at least still work...

HPA have been very good so far tbh... I have been in conversation with them about this and other stuff... all I can really say at the moment is that we are working towards sorting things out :)

I have reconnected the controller and all is good so far...

I see. Hopefully the patch fixes the intermittent fault. It's nice to see HPA are helping and getting involved!

Hate changing the wheel speed sensor, was a right pita! But it was nice having 4wd and abs again!

Been looking at them twin plate clutches again.. The 850 road model looks ok. A few people running it seem to think it's much less harsh than other paddle clutch setups..

Which clutch is that?

Tuffty, I thought you were happy with your paddle clutch? I was speaking to a guy yesterday and he said to steer clear of paddle clutches as they are either on or off, too bitey, and a pain in the **** in slow heavy traffic or car parks.
