Added the bang and olufsen sub to the standard sound system

well it didnt work on mine, ive got the standard system . changed the coding and it didnt give me a fault for the open circuit on sub or centre speaker, but i did get a canbus fault that the infotainment was incorrectly coded. so ive changed it back, and ill leave it as it is as im happy with the sound.

Hmmm, maybe because you have a 2015 5F unit with the latest software. Some people on other forums are having trouble activating certain options that could be done on 2014 models on 2015 models. As long as your happy with the current system thats fine, have you got a low pass filter on your amp? which only allows low frequencies through to the sub.

Yeah, the low pass filter is enabled. I still cant get over how much punch the B&O sub has.

Yeah it is amazing, you may notice at high volumes that the bass may sound a little weird as the headunit try's to protect the factory speakers, to combat this turn the bass down to around 1/2-3/4 and turn the levels up on the amp

I'm interested in reading more about thud. When you say other forums, are you referring to the 5f to do with the sound system or just the 5f in general?

Not just the 5F there are a few other modules on the mqb platform (octavia, golf 7, Leon) which the 2015 guys can't enable certain features on as it seems like vw have got clever and changed adaptations and codings

yeh I have connected 'a s s' sub to the sub pin using quadlock pins in the back of the headunit. and it works perfect, just cant enable sub control but im not that bothered as it sound pretty good atm. :) I didn't have to pull the glove box off or anything. just the door trims. then ran speaker wire from headunit to the boot. all with the help of Rajeevx5 :D. but deffo my tech pack headunit can handle it with ease :D

Sorry pretty newbie with all this however are you saying you are running the Audi sound system sub directly off the head unit with no amp? If so I think I might look at doing this also. Any advise?

Yes I am :) the amp in the head unit is designed for the Audi sound system, you just have to activate the sub and centre speaker pins. You will get a vcds error if you don't connect a centre speaker but I haven't and still works fine :)

Ah very good news... Was really regretting not going for AAS. Don't suppose you could get a pic of exactly where you connected the cable into the head unit could you? Or is it obvious? I don't get the car till next month or I'd look myself! Does it make a significant difference in sound quality?

I've hear people plugging in the Sub but not had anyone been successful in the centre speaker. Was it simply take off the grill panel, drop the speaker in and feed it through to the back of the mmi and activate it in VCDS?

here is the pin readout for the back of the head unit which will tell you sub and centre speaker readout!!

And also not as regards to quality more fills in the gaps for the Low end :)

So finally getting round to this, called Audi today to see if I can order the *** sub which they have confirmed I can, only £90ish. Just wondering does anyone know the difference between these two part numbers, item 16....

Also how to I sort the VCDS side of things?

Standard 9VK, 80 Marketing Watts, 8 Speakers, 4-ch amp
*** 9VD, 180 Marketing Watts, 10 Speakers, 6-ch amp
B+O 9VS, 705 Marketing Watts, 14 Speakers, 15-ch amp

This is the long coding of the 5f unit. Towards the beginning of the code you will see "FF00" but to enable the sub and centre speaker you have to change the "FF00" to "FF0A" and when you hit done you will hear the speakers crackle for a moment as it does a self check. Remove your keys and wait to turn off and reset. When you turn back on plug vcds back in and do an autoscan, if the coding has worked you will get 2 errors on the 5f unit saying centre speaker and subwoofer mailfunction! But this is ok as it's just telling you there is no connection as the pins are now live!! Hope this helped :D

Thanks

That's awesome Marko01! What was the overall cost? Thinking of just amping a sub now as I can't retrofit/code in the ***.

640€ , 14 speakers, amplifier and complete interior wiring. Hmmm... I can try coded to *** and see what happen on my car.
Which system you have in you car?

Just the standard system Marko01, coding hasn't worked for a few of the guys so think that it just doesn't work on some...

Lads.

Can anyone confirm if retro fitting B&O is possible? If so what is involved? Is the new loom an extension of the existing i.e. plug in and then subsequently plug in each speaker once mounted.

Has anyone managed to fit the B&O into their standard sound system? If so, what was involved. Any wiring? Does the car already have a plug and cabling for this?

My car is Tech Pack does this make a difference in terms of what is possible and what outputs can be enabled on the Headunit?

Thanks in advance, there are some different ways of doing the above and i'm trying to figure out the most OEM and easiest way without cutting or taking the car apart too much.

G,

One of the guys on here has successfully fitted B&O, might be worth giving him a shout. I can't find the thread but he's done it within the last week, it's detailed on one of the many sub threads lol. Sorry I can't be of much help, not sure how (or if it's even a possibility) to view threads I've commented on. Try searching it if all else fails man.

Mr G I'm working my way through a B&O retrofit just now on my 2014 sportback. A lot of the wiring for the upgraded speakers requires thicker cables so it's a bit of a job but achievable. The amp runs all the speakers and connects to the headunit in the glovebox with a fiber optic cable.
Where are you based? it might be just as easy to do 2 at the same time. You'll need to make sure your headunit has the MOST bus connector though or you'll need to upgrade it.
Other things you'll need - Electrical cable in various lengths and colours, crimping tools, a R74 Microphone, all the speakers, the amp, new D pillar covers with speaker grilles, doorcards with B&O grilles for effect, lots of various tools and the will to remove your entire interior carpet and all lower pillars.

Probably a good time to do the reversing camera as well as it'll all be accessible.

Cheers

David.

Respect mate. That sounds awesome if you pardon the pun lol.

The standard system and *** are truly gash so fair play to you for doing the B&O.

My car is in bits at present to get the loom in and through the car, It was quite easy to disassemble everything tbh, it only took about 3 hours. I hit a few issues with my loom which I'm working through but I'm being extra careful about having the capability to restore the car back to the original system when I come to sell it as I believe the B&O is worth more out of the car than in it.

A step by step is a bit of a tall order, there was quite a bit of involvement. There is also quite alot of trim to remove in the car which kind of removes by force, but just the right ammount. I dont want people to blame me when they break things because i said how to do it.

I'm only in Manchester, if you do mine I'll make the brews?

I'm local to you @C2 DTN, if your up for giving a helping hand whilst working on @GolfRAndy, s I'll get the biscuits :friends:
I wouldn't mind learning how to do it and doing it myself, just don't want to be stumped halfway through. 3 brains are way better than one!

Hi all,

I am looking to add a B&O sub to my 2013 A3. Planning on using the same method using a quad lock extension so that I do not need to cut any wires. I already have an amp from my old beamer which does not require a remote turn on lead, Could anyone tell me how to get a power from the battery to the Amp. I'm going to have a look this weekend to see if the amp will fit under the passenger seat.
