I have a 2010 A3 8p sportback Black Edition TDI (140hp) 35,000 on the clock
A couple of days ago I was driving along the motorway when my coil light started flashing on the dash. My car then went into limp mode. The EM light came on but I was able to get home. After running VAG-Com the error code is P0403 EGR valve fault. The code was cleared and all seemed fine on a run out. The boost was back and no warning lights, however after ten minutes, the coil light has started flashing again and the dreaded limp mode is back. The error code again is P0403. No other faults

Has anyone had this problem??
Do I need to look at replacing the EGR valve unit or something else to try first. Any ideas what could be causing the fault?

Don't bother replacing the EGR valve. Get a good remapper to blank it off and remap the car remove the EGR function. That way you have a remapped car and no EGR trouble ever again. You should also get the DPF gutted at the same time, so you only pay for one remap.

I have the same engine, when I bought the car it appeared as if the egr valve was replaced at about 30 k and I've no issues since (now at 75k).
But if I did start having issues I would go down the route that @Sayam is describing above. No issues then either way, better fuel economy, better power output and will still pass MOT if the dpf is gutted as opposed to removed completely

i had this problem when i first bought the car, since going down the bypass for 20mins once a week never been an issue .
personally if your going down the above WHY buy a diesel :bike:

Yes same again mate.
If you have the spare money to do so you're really are worth doing an EGR & DPF delete Remap it's well worth while in the long run gets great gains for the fun factor.

Thanks for the advice. Its looking like i'll go down the delete route with a remap. I'm in Derby so I'll see who has a good rep locally
