Hello everyone hope your all well just saying hi my names Fizz I'm from South Yorkshire I'm new to the forum Iv seen a car that I'm interested in been the one below

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=121656573253

It's had the gear box changed 300 miles ago and also Iv asked about the timing chain which has been done at 75'000 miles what do you guys think and is there anything else to look out for on these cars many thanks

It's a nice looking car and fairly priced. Check to see if it falls into the expensive road tax category, I have a 55 plate 3.2, which is £285 a year, the newer one's are £500.
The other questions are; ask if it needs or has had the ECU upgraded. The 3.2's after 2006 didn't need it because they had the newer software from the factory. The other is the coil packs, Audi were changing these under warranty.

It's a good fun car to have, I'm well chuffed with my one.

Hi Fizz, :welcome!:to audi-sport.net. If you interested in local meets, click the link in my signature for small events. The Yorkshire section is very active. Good luck with the car and enjoy the forum. :) x

Thanks mate , yeh I've checked on the tax it is the lower bracket , iv also checked on the timing chain said he got it changed from another Garge not Audi which I though only Audi would carry out the work .. And also u think it having a recent gearbox change with a re condition one maybe a bit concern

Give it a road test and see how it behaves. I'm a manual person, so I don't really know much about the auto boxes.
You will get independent garages doing the timing chain, but, it is a big job with the engine normally having to come out of the car.
Audi are in the £3500- 4000 bracket for a 3.2 timing chain, it's heart stopping material.
If you buy it, change the oil every 6000 miles, prevention is better than replacement.

I went and looked at this on Monday, to be blunt I didn't even get in it.

The paint work is horrendous it's been re sprayed white and it's got overspray over the lights and mirrors and chips all over the sills,
If you look in the panel gaps you can still see the black.

It's also got a mileage discrepancy

I would stay clear

But it's up to you

Hmmm... The rest of the description is probably a load of porky pies as well then.
I looked at a few before I got my one and the one I wanted turned out to be a right heap.
It needs to look and go well, without the aroma of s***e...!

Cheers mate uv saved me a good hour and a bit journey lol .. Will probly give it a miss I did thing it was a bit cheapish to be fair

Thort somet might have not been right ... I'm in 2 minds weather to keep looking for a 3.2 A3 or go for a well kept mk1 S3

No probs mate, I was so annoyed I drove 2 and half hours for 5 mins and drove back lol

Get a 3.2 i love mine, just dont make the same mistake as me trying to make it go sideways in the wet, its just cost me £840 for a new clutch and flywheel :(

Timing chains dont need changing regularly like timing belts, theyre meant to last the life of the engine but usually dont so be careful with high milers and listen for any wierd metallic rattling sounds in the engine and make sure its been regularly serviced (this is very important in 3.2s especially)

Overall a great car and a lot more fun than my old mk5 golf GTi

Welcome to ASN.

Had a 3.2 a few years back and loved the noise and the cruising feel of the car.

But thirsty overall but a nice car.

You could take vcds along to scan the car to make sure there's no hidden faults.

I've a 3.2 TT mk1 and I think it's a great car, However the engine and dsg box do need tip top services to keep them running sweetly.

cheers guys yeh thanks for the info i do like the look off the 3.2 Audi's tbh seems a lot more for your money , im coming from the Jap world so used to the regular Oil changes have a Celica T-sport ATM which needed the same oil changes after 6000 miles also run on a chain and was rev happy to 9000rpm probably the reason why lol , how the 3.2s like can u rev them hard been a N/A engine they pretty strong internals

They hit the rev limiter at about 6500 rpm standard and the pull is good up to about 6000.
Never heard of any throwing a rod or the like, they seem pretty good as long as they're not abused.
Some of the supercharged cars cope very well with big power.

I have had my 3.2 for 3 years great car just cant part with it ticks all the boxes and does a good job against more modern hot hatches...I'm due to get the pre cat silencers out soon to get more of a rasp

the engine internals are strong enough for about 450bhp before they require opening up. Not a very revvy car, power comes in early and stays until the rev limiter calls time. Power starts to drop off at 6.5k rpm

Had my manual just over 3 years now and love it,my kids love it too.Does everything I ask of it.Yes can be a bit thirsty but have found it to be not too bad, drove down to Surrey last year from Central Scotland in little over a full tank of fuel
Make sure the Haldex oil service has been carried out.I wasn't sure if mine had been done when I got it,and got a mechanic friend to do it for me as a precaution. He does all my servicing and stuff for me,and I trust him to do it right :)

Hi guys so Iv put a deposits down on a A3 v6 3.2 sportsback 04 plate with DSG which body work is in good condition and has RS6 alloys which will be replicas I recon with 4 new tyers ,it has part service history last service done at 91,000 and has another 5 / 6 stamps , picking up on weekend if all goes well , few questions how much would you say this car is worth with the mileage and age ? as Iv settled on a price, the car is on 97,400 miles ,, also last service was done at 91,000 is that time for a service ? And iv herd some of these engines can have problems with hesitation at 2,000rpm is this very noticeable for a new driver to feel and also at idiel is it a good idea to do the checks or when driving hold the revs at 2,000 rpm and see how the revs react , thanks
