Hi all.

Can anyone with an a4 b8 avant take a picture of the tyre pressure sticker on the b pillar on their car for me please. For some reason mine doesn't have one and could do with knowing the standard pressures.

I can't find a definitive answer online

Many thanks.

My sticker is not on the b pillar, but on the door itself. Have another look.

Thanks mfm it's not on the door either it's nowhere to be seen. I'd rather have a picture of it so I know what to adjust pressure to etc

Thanks for the reply

I have a saloon so not entirely sure if it's the same as the avant. I can take a picture of mine if you want?

Hmm I reckon it'd be different on the avant due to load capacity etc but a picture would be useful anyway may prompt someone else to take a picture of the one on their avant.

Thanks again

Anyone with an avant got a picture as a comparison please?

Currently running 32 psi all around. That's what they had in when it came to me but they always look a little flat. There a big difference if the avant pressures are the same as the saloon

Heres mine from my 2014 Avant. I run my tires at 40 psi all round (19").

Thanks so much. Looks like 32 is about right then judging by that with 245 40 18s.

I take it yours is an avant then knight?

Ok some variations going on here haha. Just checking those are avant models.... Thanks.

It was from a bit of trial and error after seeing on here someone else does the same and gets really good MPG.

Knight thanks for sharing that info on your tyre pressures. I've got an identical car to yours and am thinking of putting in 40 all round like yourself, how long have you run it with these pressures and is there any effect on wear that you've noticed.
Thanks

I collected new car on Thursday. Front was 40 and rear was 42.
Changed to 36 all round yesterday and it's much much better

That's on 19" 255/35/19 conti sport 3's

Mine are 245/40/18 on a 2008 avant and the sticker says 38 psi but I find it to harsh with the s line suspension so dropped to 36 all round and it's much more comfortable. Did try 32 but when I parked with the wheels on lock the tires looked squashed lol

I do prefer the feel of mine of since being on 40. Ive only had them on it for a few thousand miles so cant confirm about wear for sure. For info they are Michelin pilot sport 3.

I'm sure that the recommended pressures will vary according to engine, gearbox/drivetrain and suspension (and maybe other factors!) - which is why we've seen three totally different sets of figures.

I don't think there is a definitive answer to this. The manufacturer's recommendations are just that; a recommendation intended to provide a reasonable compromise between the competing (sometimes conflicting) demands of comfort, responsiveness, economy and tread life. Use them as a starting point and don't be afraid to vary them (plus or minus three or four PSI is hardly reckless) to find the setting that best suits your personal needs.

There's a definitive answer to the manufacturer's recommended pressures for a particular vehicle/tyre size combo, and that's where to start from. If you really don't have the label on the drivers door, you should probably start here: http://www.tyresafe.org/tyre-safety/tyre-pressure-check

Otherwise, call your local dealer!

Note there are huge differences between models, even on the same tyre sizes. I guess @MFM's figures are from his S4, which - because of the suspension and engine size - would be totally wrong on 2 litre diesel with SE suspension.

That site says my 2002 a6 c5 155bhp avant should have 27,56 all round.
The label in the fuel flap says 38 all round and 42 and 46 fully loaded ??????????????????

What size tyres do you have?

38/38 for three up and 42/46 loaded sounds high. Sure you're looking at the correct tyre type (the "M+S" ones are for Mud+Snow tyres)??

Same sticker on my drivers door too lol

Reminds me to check mine tomorrow

Will be interesting to see how far they are from Audi's recommeded 36F & 33R

Ran my old B8 A4 which had 19's at 36F & 33R with no probs. That was running on Conti 3's when I sold it

Checked my tyre pressures today. Fronts were 37.5 & rears were 34 which were set by the Dealer, so not too far out

Thanks for the reminder
