Audi A4 Cabriolet 2.4 Sport Storyline

Thats bad news , whatever you do dont get an RX8 ,even more of a money pit!
Can the box be rebuilt? You can buy all the parts even if Main dealer says you cannot.

I want something fast and reasonably cheap. I can rebuild it although I don't know if it will be worth the effort and the money if probably will only last another 10k miles before something else goes. I pulled the codes of the gearbox then erase them after to take it out of the emergency mode to see what it does and the whole car is shaking and revs are all over the place. I bet everything is badly shredded in there. First I would have to take it out which means I need space for that and doing it on my drive is just ridiculous as I need the car in the air to take the exhausts out first then take the gearbox out then crack it open, assess it then pull the parts of ElsaWIN to get from Audi then this does not guarantee that this will work once I put it back. Time is money too I need to drive to university and work can't have a car that takes a lot of dough every month that is stationary. Here are the codes:

Don't know what I will do yet but once I calm down and stopped being ****** off about the weather being great today and my detailed convertible is sitting on the drive where everyone else is riding top down. Story of my life. ;-)

Finally coming to my senses and trusting someone with my car it was taken to the garage for a complete gearbox rebuilt. I will have it back tomorrow evening! Hard to believe it but yes. I actually could drive away after 2 hours to fix the main fault but after doing 92k miles on one oil she deserves the full on treatment.

Car is detailed and all good. One thing is the RNS-D is locked because of battery being disconnected and I haven't got the code! Lost it somewhere. Audi now has to book the car in for an hour and £10 and I can get it - next Wednesday :|

Full service history doesn't quite cut it when it comes to the amount of paper work my car comes with so I bought this! Almost £9000 in just bills and not all of them are here! :-O

Who did you use? was it the ebay seller you linked to on page 1? ( tadeusz1978 )

Asking because i'm about to book my 02 A6 2.5TDI CVT in with them and would like some feedback on them.

Thanks,
Dan.

Hi,

Yes that is the one! He was brilliant the turnaround time was super rapid! I recommend!

What killed your cvt mate? Good project thread btw.

Oil pump was the key element to fail. The filters in the oil pump pressure block were completely clogged the oil flow stopped causing the pump to seize and as this is a CVT it just turned it over dry destroying the sprocket in the pump. As an of implications the main pulley got scratched and grooved and the chain had to be reconditioned. So yeah that about covers it. After the work the gearbox is better than new. Doesn't hesitate between gears and all the automatic problems/myths are gone.

I will put an update together on what is happening and review the main thread post.

The worst news is that the roof doesn't want go down! :(

So the cvt oil was never changed? Mine is so smooth it's incredible, just praying I don't have any issues lol.

It was changed at 30k and for next 60k it wasn't changed. I hope your gbox will be fine for long time although it always comes times for the CVT so one day.

Time to read my VCDS log and dig through ETKA, ElsaWIN and Autodata and come up with fixes!

Oh WTH I will share it with you guys maybe you got some useful insights! :)

Can I just ask is your multitronic still working well? I need mine done too. Thanks.

Multitronic is fine. I still have warranty on it. I am going back though for clutch programming as it drops to neutral to quick and maybe another oil change. :) Lovely as usual though.

Hello.i am also a a4 cabrio 2004 owner and i ve just got my led rear lights and i saw that yours have been modiefied. Can u please tell me wich color of the cables are connected -i mean the colors of the wires?.I have no adapter but i have the harness from b7 for the led rear light.I inttend to cut the b6 harness and to conect directly the car wires to the b7 harness that is entering in the lamp..thank u

My lights were a straight swap when it came to the fitting. Sorry! Besides my Audi is for sale guys. Just ordered a Benz :-( Sorry.

AND I'm back!

I sold the A4 quite a while ago and still enjoying the new E-Class Coupe and the Range Rover Vogue Autobiography. And the other day I bought an A6 2.7TDI LeMans Quattro Avant so I might put a thread together.

Here are some shots from my advert (simply just because they were amazing):
