Good evening,

I've been searching the web for a while now and can't decide what to do about my broken springs, do I just replace like for like or do I upgrade?

If so can you recommend me some upgrades :rockwoot:

I would change them like for like unless you are planning to do all 4 corners, then you would also need to change the dampers. If you tow a caravan or heavy trailer then there are some uprated rear springs that would match the OE set up.

If it's just your springs which are broken, replace all 4 with aftermarket ones unless you need the ride height for practicality.

H&R and Eibach are compatible with the standard shocks and give improved ride comfort over the standard s-line springs.

I've just put Bilstein B4 dampers and Eibach pro springs on my SE. It handles much better through the bends, but because I had SE suspension it does feel a bit hard (inevitable) and "bouncy". I'm hoping the bounciness will settle after a few weeks but i recommend this combo if you're looking to upgrade (it worked out cheaper than getting a replacement stock setup too).

As Soot1 said, if you're just changing the rears then go for like for like.

I don't mind replacing all four to be honest as it will save money on labour.
jjmurphy21187 do you where can I get the H&R springs at a good price?
Cheers guys

i replace mine both rear as one of them was broken last January when i bought the car ! Look for OEM springs only as the load index is different for the different engines and type cars - saloon avant . With cheap Euro car parts they come as one kind of spring and the car look **** :) Believe me i'm talking from practise :D The guy who i trust (since then NO) he said to me they are same as Audi springs - after that he returnd the cheap one and labouring was for his expences :) I'm just advice you if you want put COILOVER as i done that mistake - both Springs are 200 rear and a normal set of coilovers are like 300 so ;) Go fo it !

went for MOT today and surprise ,surprise
P1010059
look what they found.
broken offside rear spring, and has been for sometime by the looks of things, probably why the car has felt a bit soft for a while now.
claiming on MOT protection for a repair.

Something to do with the bottom of the spring collects water and our gritted winter roads- salt ? ?

I'm from Bulgaria and there we have 3 months proper winter with snow , salt and -10ish temperature and I HANE NEVER SEEN a broken spring ! NEVER.
My father use to have Audi 80 85th year ;) and it was ok with no troubles for years like 7 or 8 ... Who knows km... Now mines is 2007 and last yead i change spring so 7 years

A great deal of spring pans on cars have drainage holes in them, do ours? Haven't had a look at mine.

morning guys i'm still struggling to find the H&R springs can someone please give me a little gentle push in the right direction??

Just had B7 Cab serviced at Audi and they found a broken rear spring. To be honest we had heard a squeak or two from the rear when running on uneven roads - which has stopped since replacement.

Oh, and it was covered by the extended warrant, so no cost to us.

I snapped rear spring on my car the other week, I replaced all 4 with H&R spring which were sourced through Mark Brodie at Brotek, since fitting them it's like night and day over the standard Sline springs, the car is not as harsh as it used to be and it handles way better.
