So the block is being rebuilt but got. Aphone call from engine repair garage apparently audi have supplied the pistons which is great, but the rods are now different to the pistons that are now available for my car, so its another £500+ vat for connecting rods as the pin is slightly bigger for the new revised pistons, 1mm bigger rods means i cant use old ones, this is german motoring at its finest

Buy and s3 they said it will be amazing they said ...

Luckily i wont be much down as ive sold all my tuning parts and air ride for decent money close to 3K to be exact which will cover costs but this car is a right ache in my sack !!!! Should have left it at road side and carried on with my life lol

Anyone know why they changed rods amd the conection pin to 1mm bigger ? As my exsisting rods wont fit the piston unless rods are upgraded also

Its just like the older 8L platform. Most of the 1.8t platform have 19mm wrist pins but the S3/TT/LCR had 20mm wrist pins. Purely for strength, take more torque etc.

Im sure Audi would still sell you the correct wrist pin sized pistons... This is nothing to do with revision level....

The older wrist pins that cane originally on the car they dont exist, neither do the pistons so had to buy all revission new parts and pay full wack for them
