Handbook doesn't specify as far as I can see.
gives me the VW code,but not grade

What are PPl using ?

5W30 is generally the long life oil to spec vw 504 I use Castrol Edge but I think that both the Mobil and Shell synthetic oils are just as good. As you can imagine there is a lot of forum discussions as to the best oil!
 
So a 5w40 for doing yearly changes under 10k then.

Mines at the dealers on Thursday for 10k oil change, I'll ask them what they use

I only generally use Mobil1 in all my cars. Outstanding oil. Had to buy some Shell Helix Ultra to top mine up as that's what the dealer used on the last service.

On the Fiat Coupe I had I ran Mobil1 10W60 and had outstanding oil pressure! Lol

Why all used oil different from OEM ?
 
Even some of the Ester oils are group 3 ,4 and 5 the same as oem so oem should be up to the job .

As above , if excessive oil consumption and you don't fancy topping up try an expensive 5W30 Ester oil or go 5W40 Ester .
 
Can I use 0w40 castrol, as I have barrels at work which was miss ordered.

S4 V8 car??
 
Castrol edge 5w-30 for me as it's nice and cheap leave me more money for fuel

No problems uses a little bit but prob down to my driving
 
lads what do you think about Quantum 5w30 504-507.00 independent Audi/Vw garage say they use OEM oil only and vag group use this. I never heard about this oil.

Quantum is made by Castrol for the VAG group, It's used in Skoda's, Seats, VW's, Audi's etc.
Longlife 3 5w30 is the most common and can be used in 95% of modern petrol and diesel cars.
I have used it for the last 5-6 years, it's a quality oil at a cheap price. You can get it delivered off fleabay 5L is aound £28 .

Dealers definitly use fully synthetic Shell 5w 30w and im sticking with catsrol 5w 30w, Edge seems a good shout. It might also be worth noting that Audi now use this Shell Oil in every model including Diesels (might come as a surprise to some). You can confirm this by giving them a call. If you're gonna get it serviced from then this is what they'll be putting in. Its on offer at Asda atm too. 4L Edge is £30 I think, I checked in Halfords and its around double that.

Just use any approved 504.00 / 507.00 oil .

There's no evidence to suggest one is better than the other , it's a qualification albeit a high quality one .

Get it as cheap as you can , there's no need to be a brand whore .

ok thanks mate for explain, so now I can more trusted in this brand and oil.
The garage which do a service, use this oil so I think I stay with them.
