hey everyone, been driving mk1/mk2 golfs as everydayers since 1998 (and regrettably a couple of mk3 16v's!)so recently I needed an upgrade, always liked these as a mate of mine bought one new for his mother as a birthday present back in 2001(he has a lot more disposable money than me!) and he let me take it for a drive, since then I always likes them. So a couple of wks ago I picked one up on my way home from worthersee. I live on the Isle of Man and viewed a couple of cars locally before I left for worthersee that were dogs so I left them! Didn't actually plan on actually getting one on my return but it was just posted up on the net and local to where my mate who I was traveling with lived so we decided to view it. It's a facelift Goodwood green car with full history and 2x previous owners. Here's some pics!

The headlamps on it were gone quite yellow so the first thing I did after a couple of days ownership was to remove them and flat them down and machine polish them!

Picked up some of these too but they are quite rough so I completely stripped them. They weren't seized, just paint was very tatty and seals were falling to bits, paint was horrible and everything was looking corroded....strip-down!

So I got them split and cleaned in the soda blaster!

So tomorrow the rest of the caliper halves will be stripped clean(ran out of time today). Already ordered up new rebuild seals, stainless bleed nipples, decals, bolts and pad shims to get them like new again. Won't be doing them red again 'unfortunately' as it's no GT3 RS!.(and I don't like lime green/bright yellow/orange etc etc!) So they will be going black.
Ordered some parts for it last week I already fitted too, aerial mast was falling to bits so replaced that, and the aerial base O-ring was perished so a new one has been ordered and replaced. Sump was removed 4x days after purchase and oil pump pick-up pipe replaced with a new one for peace of mind,I know how these can clog-up! It was serviced a week before I bought it so after the pick-up pipe was replaced the filter was replaced with gen VAG one and new oil,oh well, the week old oil will do as a good flushing oil! Peace of mind! Some muppet has put a slightly bigger battery in it too and forced the fuse holder over the top of it and fractured it so a new ones been ordered along with some other bits. So need to put a correct size new battery in it too(although it already has a new battery in it.....aaaaaah, why can't people do sh17 properly?)

While I'm waiting on a few new bits to show-up, here's a few shots of the current fleet!
