Famous for their luxury cars, Audi has unveiled a new lightweight road bike, the imaginatively named ‘Audi Sport Racing Bike’ at its showroom in Shibuya, Tokyo.

As you might expect, the frame is made from carbon fibre and is reported to weigh a fairly impressive 790g, putting it in a similar ballpark to other lightweight carbon frames, such as the Trek Emonda SLR and featherweight Merida Scultura 9000, launched last week. The total bike weight is claimed to be 5.8kg.

The carbon fibre Audi have used is known as T1000, created by Japan’s Toray Industries Inc. reportedly the same as that used in Audi’s race cars. The wheels are Lightweight Meilensteins carbon clinchers, while the groupset is Shimano Dura-Ace Di2.

So how much will this bike set you back? The price of the Audi Sport Racing Bike is reportedly $19,650, roughly £12,600, with only 50 available world-wide. That is a lot of money, considering you can buy an Audi A1 car for £14,355.

Yes very nice but the saddle looks too small for me.

That's the way saddles are nowadays, my Cube was savage on the bum to begin with, but it only took about a fortnight for my behind to stop hurting.
Never mind, at just over 12.5 grand I don't need to worry about one of these hurting my soft bits.
Tis nice though and the seat probably IS made by Recaro...!

Haha yeah the company's logistics team need shooting, they arrived the next day. Never understood why bikes come with no pedals.
