hi folks,
I've been reading loads of posts on here regarding suspension setups for Lowering S lines and how purchasing lowering springs you won't get the true honest drop that ur after due to the fact that S line suspension is 10 or 20mm lower than standard? i don't have an S line (unfortunately) I've got a 53 plate 190 sport Avant SE, my question is what suspension/springs do I have on my car? Ive always had coilovers on most of my cars but I'm thinking a 40/50mm drop on my Avant will be enough, I also have B5 perches which I can use if need be.

So my question is,,,, will I get a genuine 40/50mm drop??

Any help will be much appreciated

Jim

Well let's establish the first thing. You say your car is a 'Sport Avant SE'? It's either a Sport OR an SE. Which means;

SE
50mm Front / 40mm Rear
Add an extra ~10-15mm lowering to the front with the use of b5 perches.

SPORT
30MM Front / 20mm Rear
Again add an extra ~10-15mm to the front with use of b5 perches.

Hi, I checked the log book this morn, it's deffinately a sport, It threw me a little as I don't have the GmbH kit on mine so I thought it maybe an SE.

Looks like coilovers will be the route I'll take as a 30/20mm drop over what I have wont be enough for me unfortunately..

Cheers for clarifying barkclark

No problem. I'll be going for the Eibach Pro kit for my sport Avant. Only a 10mm drop all round. Although I have already fitted the b5 perches. I love the comfort too much so just a subtle drop for me haha

Haha,, yeah I hear ya there... I've been driving my 190 for a year without touching it as I also have a B5 passat wagon which has been my toy, however the passat is being sold soon so it's time I start playing with the audi,, I agree, the comfort is sublime..

Are u gonna stick with the standard shocks or upgrading?

I recently just got four brand new Sachs sport shocks fitted in Feb along with the perches!

Pro Sport are F30mm R30mm and can use the B5 perches to lower the front
Sportlines are F50mm R30mm and NO NOT need the B5 perches

Minus 20mm off above values if you have sport suspension already to get the additional drop the springs will truely give.

Cheers Mike, There's a few haters out there regarding the eibachs, also looking at the H&R's, 45mm. Looking more likely I think....

Eibachs rule in my opinion and always used them on my previous cars...........comfortable yet firm when needed in the bends.

Future purchase for mine when I get a chance

I have eibach sportline on mine with the original shocks and b5 perches and mines a sport and I can honestly say the ride is no worse than the original springs.

Got any pics of ur's dale? Comforting to here that the ride is very similar...
I'm used to slamming the hell out of my cars on coilovers so I'm used to a bumpy ride, getting a little older now so a nice drivable drop is what I'm after..

how hard is it for the perches to be swapped over?

do the perches just tap off or do you need to do anything else, I will need to change springs on my car soon as audi found one was broken so would do this all at the same time

B5 perches just tap off.
I have standard sport shocks and h&r springs on mine with b5 perches and its great ride.
Just put set of h&r's on my brothers seat too.
Ride better than original.
Definitely recommend.

Mine are the 45mm drop ones as its sport and already lower. B5 perches and has nice stance. Look at my profile pic. That's with 18" bbs reps and 20mm spacers all round.
