Just thought I'd share a picture after i fitted a genuine RS3 grill I picked up on eBay for £205 which I think was a steal!

I removed the aluminium crash bar and galv sprayed it then primed it before glossing it. I think it looks brilliant! I'm now starting to think removing the RS3 badge would have been a good idea though... (If anyone knows how to remove it without removing the grill please let me know!

I haven't put the fog light grills back yet as I can't decide whether to paint them or just paint the light surrounds black as I know the rattle can paint can chip easy.

Also, since there's nothing behind the grill it seems a bit flimsy? Not sure if it's just because I haven't got the reg plate mount fitted yet or not or have I missed something? Also I never realised I had to drill out the air intake scoop holes where is the RS3 air scoop fitted and can it be fitted to a TDI?

Thanks

Did you not find a big lump of polystyrene-style foam behind the bumper, covering the crash bar?
If it's the Xenonz grille, then I think it just unclips, so should be possible without removing the bumper again.

Yeah the foam was visible from the front and looked terrible, and I can't see it on any other car with one fitted.

Nah it's the genuine audi grill, didn't look at the way it's clipped on before I put it on the car -.-

That was a steal and even though i've already got 1.. I'd have even bought it for that price..

Unfortunately you'll need to drill the holes.. I had to do it on mine and it was heartbreaking, but needs must..

The grill is sturdy enough, if something is going to go through it, it will regardless of a bit of foam..

Best thing to paint the plastics with is an enamel paint, use an enamel paint adhesive also to provide slightly more protection.. Works wonders against stone chips.. Won't prevent them obv but it only slightly marks the small bit affected, doesn't actually chip

Yeah it was a great buy, I'm in love with it! Shame I couldn't get the number plate on until the weekend tho.

Bummer that's a shame about the badge! Well I guess it stays for now, going to try get hold of an S3 intercooler so when I finally get one I will sort it out then.

Know anything about the RS3 intake scoop location?

Cheers

I looked into it at the time and found that most others thats done it have just drilled holes.. Too much hassle otherwise.. The badge. Hmm think that might be a bumper off job again, not unless you want to snap it off..

Well I just fitted a new Ramair panel filter and then proceeded to pritty much block off the intake haha.

I will have a badgers and see what I/others come up with regarding the RS3 scoop or what ever it is, if I can't find anything then I will just drill holes when I next have the bumper off, unless it causes trouble driving tomorrow as I haven't been on a motorway yet

You got the one I was watching! Ended up not bothering as we traded our car in at the weekend. Looks superb mate!

Haha, I thought there would have been more bids on it mind! But cheers for not bidding haha :-D

Thanks very much, I'm looking forward to seeing it with the plate on and RS badge removed... even tho I kinda like it I know, I will get ripped to pieces for it haha.

Just need to sort the air intake, don't want to put holes in the grill :-(

Looks far FAR better than all that Chinese crap people insist on putting onto their cars.

It looks well and genuine (although dearer!) is always best.

undo the 3 torx screws along top edge of grill and get some one to help you carefully pull the grill /bumper forward . you should be able to get your hand/arm down behind the grill and undo the badge easily enough

so educate me...OEM made of fiberglass and aftermarket abs plastic?

I don't believe it is fibreglass, if so its had me the whole time.

I have had the badge off since the week after when i fitted the number plate holder :)

on a side note, I've never drilled the air holes and its been perfectly fine

and that's what happens when you don't checked the dates on the posts , only nearly a year behind lol
