Hi, Anyone know why the hell the ride height would be higher on the left then the right of the car. I have a A4 DTM. I've just changed all 4 shocks & springs, and I thought that would solve the issue out.

It is about 1cm higher on the left.

Did you the suspension aligned after the shock & spring change?
A twisted ARB can cause uneven height. You can disconnect one of the droplinks and drive it for a short distance, half mile will do, then re measure the ride height.

Hi, thanks for the reply.... not had the alignment done yet. I will do it next week, although I don't think that will fix it.
I take it by ARB you mean anti roll bar? Can it really get twisted? I did have a hard impact on the drivers side front when I hit a big curb!

Well, that certainly didn't help. The front strut and/or mountings is most probably bent. Definitely an alignment required, should show up some bad castor and camber angles. The tech who does this should be able to give you advise as to whats wrong.

Cool thanks, I will get the alignment sorted & hopefully shows whats wrong. I would love to know what it is, as the car drives ok.
Also, my steering wheel is to the right slightly, so defo needs 4 wheel alaignment.
Cheers mate.

Hi, i have had 4 wheel alignment done and the ride hieght is still not right!
Had everything checked and all seems ok. Nothing bent.
The gap on the left you can get 2 fingers in and the right only 1 finger. I have no idea why this can be. All new suspension on the car so do not know what it could be.?

Any ideas please?????

Same.happened my old b7 after fitting eibach springs. Turned out where the top arm screws into was broke and leaning but not snapped and I had to replace the hub. Was hard to see until the hub was removed.

Hi thanks, which bit is that? Are you saying the same for front and rear?

The fact that your camber is out means something else is bent or dislodged. Not easy to find though. My mothers Ford Fusion is the same after she it a kerb hard, the steering arm was bent by about 90deg, changed that but it's still not right. . The camber is out by 1.5deg but drives ok and considering she only goes to the local shops occasionally it's not worth worrying about.

See picture below where i marked. This was broke on my car and had car leaning. it wasnt snapped it was broke and bent down...

Thanks ruairi83! i will get this checked out by my mechanic. It could be that.

Hi, i been to get my car checked again and all measurments of the chassis and suspension is ok. Still do not know why the car sits lower on right hand side. One thing we noticed was the left front wheel sticks out more then the right hand side? could not see any visible reason why???

So, no clue yet what is causing the ride hieght problem. I am just going to have to leave it as is. The difference is about 1 inch higher on left to the right...

Have you had any work done that would have required the control arms to be removed?

Hi yes, front right has all new control arms on it.

Maybe the control arm bolts were tightened at different heights either side when they were replaced? Currently trying out to find myself if they should be tightened under load or not myself but if it were under load and one side was tightened up at a different height to the other maybe that could be the problem?

they were done on a ramp, so car was in the air when changed.
I had this problem before anything was done on the car. ???

Not sure what to suggest, if you've new control arm and tie rod ends etc fitted then maybe try getting sub frame alignment checked. I had mine checked and adjusted as part of £40 wheel alignment at dealer.
