Ok so I've adjusted my fk street coilovers about 4 times since I've had my a3 and can not for the life of me get the front level. It's spot on the same thread count and mm height adjusted but the drivers side is 3/4" lower than the passenger side. My o.c.d doesnt want me to have them unlevel from the coils but that seems the only way to fix it. Can somebody tell me if this is how I should fix it. Balljoints wishbones arb are all fine. Thanks in advance Ben. Sorry if I sound dumb as s&&t by the way

always surprises me when people fit coilovers to their car without having them properly corner weighted and the geometry properly done.

take it to someone that knows what they are doing then, hardly seems worth trying to get it level then let them adjust it again to corner weight it - just my thoughts

If your going to be helpful feel free to comment. If not don't bother. Just my thoughts

wtf.... that is being helpful, when a car is corner weighted they adjust the the height to fine tune the weight going through all 4 corners, so you 'setting' the height is pointless, and its not exactly something you can do with a tape measure - the place i go to has equipment worth tens of thousands.

Feel free to 'learn' how to do it with a 5m draper tape measure and 4x bathroom scales - I'm sure it will be as good a result as getting a motorsport company to do it properly.

Oh now that sounds better sorry if I took it the wrong way but it came across arrogant when you first said take it to someone who knows then. Thanks.

no worries, trust me though you will not get the setup right on coilovers on your own, you can get them looking level but it doesnt mean its right, i once took an mr2 turbo i owned to a place after i 'set it up' they did a proper geometry session and corner weighted it - the drive home felt like a different car

The Motorsport company I'm my town say they are using equipment built with lotus the only computer equipment in the uk of its kind and they can fine tune it to 0.4 degrees mm and oz apparently but at £250 pound for a set of coilovers that haven't got dampening who wants to pay that lol.

Yeah I have definitely got to get it done the only other place here that corner weighs is kwik fit and I don't fancy those f&£@ers doing it lol. Any ideas in the midlands?

not quite your area but northampton motorsport did mine, full geo (lots to adjust on an mr2 too) and corner weight was around £250

Oi sod off Jason, I'm the pedantic arrogant **** on this forum!

Prawn sets his up with the level on his iPhone and it's usually within mm's of perfect when he then pays for it to be checked.

Set it up as best you possibly can, and go with what you think is the best you can get it. THEN take it to a pro just for a check, and let them fine tweek if required.

Yeah that was my thoughts ?. He has kw coilovers and electric adjusting I'm guessing not able to do that with my s&@£&y coilovers lol. Thanks for the help p.p.s loving your car on the track day saw a vid prawn out up it sounds amazing

Providing the car is reasonably standard in terms of layout of heavy parts, setting ride height to be even all round with a tape measure will actually get you reasonably close on corner weights.

This was set up with a tape measure, very carefully on a dead level surface:

Axle weights both within 5kg of each other side to side and a pretty decent cross too!

Most places would be happy to get within 5kg across the axles even after a full setup!

That's not to say everyone can get it that close using a tape measure. It takes time and effort, but it's certainly not a bad place to start. Especially if you're currently rocking a 20mm difference in ride height side to side. That'll DEFINITELY be sat up on one diagonal

You got that nice and close didn't you lol. Thanks for the advice mate gonna have another look tomorrow and adjust it to get it looking level car height even if the one coilover will be 3/4" higher than the other lol... Oh I asked a question on clubgti wasn't sure if u knew it was me or not... About making my own quickshifter a few weeks ago and how the federal rsr are in the wet as I'm thinking of buying some soon but with winter is it ok all year round cheers in advance.

can anybody help. putting new coilovers on audi a4 b6. how far from the bottom do i need the adjuster to be.

Wrong thread mate this is for a3 8l I'm sure someone will help though or connect you to a link as I'm not sure how, but that's your call on how low you want the car to be adjuster closer to the bottom the lower the car, if I'm reading your post correct?
