I have just been out in my A3 and ended up following another 8V and thought how good the indicators are on the A3 and most other Audi cars. So many vehicles these days seem to have a coloured bulb behind a clear lens and often quite small lenses at that that and often it quite difficult to see the that the indicators are on. I also followed a Passat at one stage and it's indicators were in a circular lens surrounded by the brake light and when the driver had the indicator on and was braking it was difficult to see the indicator. I've even seen large lorries with this same set-up. Why can we not just go back to individual lenses for each light and have coloured lenses. Fashion and appearance taking precedence over safety.

They would be even better if the a3 had progressive indicators like the new a7, 8 and r8.

I've always thought those VW ones inside the circle are pants! what are progressive indicators?

Personally I prefer indicators that just flash rather than play silly games.

I'm just happy if other drivers use them.

I think they've done this just to think of something different TBH.

Does that mean that the next one to come out with circular indicators will light up bit by bit to make a ring like a Catherine wheel ??

Or perhaps make them into a large flashing arrow....

It's a bit of a difficult one; over the last week or so I've had several occasions where other cars' brake lights or indicators have not been very visible as a result of bright sunlight. In that situation I find myself wishing the lights were brighter. That said, we've all sat behind people waiting at junctions at night who don't use the handbrake, being dazzled by LED brake lights which suddenly seem far too powerful!

The problem with the LED brake lights is down to the lazy driver rather than the lights themselves. Too much effort required to apply the handbrake!

I do agree with this, especially with indicators. In certain conditions, it is difficult to see them, so I am all for getting them as bright as possible, with them all illuminating at the same time. This newly discovered VCDS mod to make them "phase" in the "safety car mode" - only brings half of them on at any one time, so you've lost half your illumination in bright sunlight.

The A3 8P MY11 rear indicators were terrible for illumination - thin strip, and you had to be at the correct viewing angle to see them properly. A terrible case of style of substance.
