what tires do you run

Rate them on wet, dry grip, wear, road noise.

Bridgestone protenza 255/35/19

Grip seems good in all weather, brakes well.
No clue on wear not worn any out yet
Noise seems quite high

No clue why my pad auto corrects to tires from tyres

Because it's American probably, it'll probably correct cheese to cheeze too :-D

Continental sport contact 3's. Came with the car.

Grips above average but not great, wet is the same. Decent on breaking and road noise is fine but the tramline terribly. Wear has been ok on these too.

Won't be buying g again though when it's replacement time, I'll be going with Vredesteins.

I agree , with the above, I got mine with the car from new but notice also the tramline , which is really bad at times and pulls the car to the side, which I have never noticed on other cars using other brands.

My old B8 A4 ( http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...udi-a4-2-0-tfsi-quattro-s-line-saloon.225569/ } came with Pirelli P-Zero's as standard - 255/35x19's

These were frightening in the wet. No grip at all

Weren't to bad in the warm dry conditions, BUT when they got down to about 5mm they were shocking

Tramlined like they were on rails too

Ended up changing them all when they had around 4mm on for some Continental Sport Contact 3's which I thought were great. Car was way better in wet and dry.

I agree. SP3's IMO are definitely the best but they are not the cheapest option...

Going to change mine to Michelin Pilot Super Sport in a few weeks, they've got great reviews.

Currently running Dunlop sp maxx 235/35/19 that came on the car. A pretty decent all round tyre.
I'll be changing to eagle f1 or pilot super sports next though.

Running Michelin Pilot Super Sport - i love them!

Road noise slightly better than the dunlop sport i was using before.
awesome in dry, good in wet too...wearing ok so far...

Car came with sport contact 3's. Tramline and very snatchy. Excellent grip dry to be fair - seem fine in the wet. Noisy and getting noticable worse mpg than I was getting in the winter with winter tyres - which is odd!

Always been a fan of Michelins - PS3 or super sports next. Had PS3's on two previous cars and they tick all the boxes for me.

Do any of you look at the ratings on the tyres, as in fuel economy & DB rating, most seem good on one or the other, but not both.

Just wondering if those are a consideration when buying?

Thanks

Yes JG,

I would read the reviews & go for grip too, and also wear life. I'm not due any just yet, but have been looking for when I do, and have been looking for A + A ratings, so good fuel economy and low noise levels, best I've found is A + C/E, so guess it's one over the other. I have the F1s on at the mo and they tram line quite a lot, so will look for tyres that don't do that as it's irritating!

Cheers for the replies

Pobarbly going to get a few :wtf:from the guys on this thread BUT here goes...

Av got 19" alloys and went with the Falken 452's when i bought them nearly 2 years ago. Veridant were out of my budget. Have to say the falkens were great in wet and brilliant in dry. maybe that had something to do wit the fact i have a 3tdi quottro.. dont really know.

Only covered about 6,000 miles and then they needed replacing. I did find that the more my foot hot the pedal the more the rubber came off LOL

So when it came to looking for a new set of tyres went to tyreleader for reviews. Would have loved the SP2 as they have some great reviews but not if i was needing a new set after a year.. finally went for the nexen NS2 tryres.. yes here goes the :wtf:from the guys BUT I have to say..these are better than the Falkens! serious. cant fault them as good in the wet as the falkens IF not better AND dry noise wise they just about the same as the previous... also bonus is that they cover the lip of my alloy which have been scuffed silly when the falkens were on. To top it off they cost about half the cost of SP's at about £65 a corner..:rockwoot:

Michelin Pilot Sport 3 AO 255 19
Excellent in dry and wet, very good stability fast mid corner.
Road noise is ok, not the quietest but really dependant on road surface. Worst on concrete roads like the M3 from J7-8 or that bit of the M180.
I do around 35k a year otherwise would've gone for the PSS, got around 30k on the rears (non Quattro) and they're still around 5mm, replaced the fronts a couple of months ago and they're still mint.

I had some Fredestein Sessantas on my BMW and thought they were very good, especially in the wet.

I don't quite understand why anyone would want to put budget tyres on a car like this though?

Vredestein sessnatas +1, had them on mine a year after being recomended them, and covered 15k miles so far on them, really rate them.
They still have full tread all round, infact still look brand new as they was off the car at the weekend. Definately got my moneys worth.

Like glue in the wet and dry, I have never noticed over acceptable road noise, and they stretch really well if thats your kettle of fish (235/35/19 on a 10j).

Just yesterday had to do a emergency stop from 40 to 0 in a click, when a utter numpty decided to over take the parked cars and come at me head on and on my side of the road. wheels locked and tires instantly gripped and halted me to the ground, just in time too. Life savers!
Dont cheap on tires, it could of been another story yesterday if I had picked budgets, bumpers was close...
