In my S3 I removed my rear wiper but not keen on doing it on my S4.

So, this begs the question, is it possible to turn off the auto rear wiper when front wipers are engaged when reversing?

This does my head in. If my car is dirty, I want it to be dirty all over. A pet hate of mine is having a clean rear window and dirty car so is it possible to disable this feature on vagcom?

Thanks

Is possible with Vagcom only don't have the coding handy.

Within the coding of 09-Cent Elec, varies as most of the long coding options aren't available online but you'll see it when in the controller.

1. Open controller 09 - 'Cent. Elec'.
2. Open 07 - coding, then open long coding helper.
3. Byte 21.
4. Bit 6: 'Automatic rear window wiping with reverse gear active' Tick to activate.

This is the most insane thing I have read all week.

I've got to agree. This isn't a question of aesthetics. It's about being able to see out safely.

If I want to use my rear wiper I can do so manually.

The car is never too dirty to not see out of and I ran both my A3 and S3 without a rear wiper for a combined 8 years with no issues.

Fair dos. It just seems a curious thing to be bothered by, but hey, we all have 'em.

Tbh I don't think it's a strange request at all, the big clean bit would do my head in as well, good job the saloon doesn't have a rear wiper

Just a feature I dislike about the car.

I've also removed the option for the back up wipe when you use the front scooshers - where the wipers will clear up the initial water then a second after it wipes again. Mainly to avoid streaking and that horrible rubber noise when it isn't always necessary.

Oh yeah, got that turned off too.

Disable Windscreen Wiper “after wipe”
1. 09 - Cent Electrics
2. 07 – Coding
3. Select “x** 8K1 955 119 ** WWS xxxx” in top drop-down box
4. Long coding helper
5. Byte 1
6. Un-check box “Tear Wiping Active”

Tear wiping can be turned off by flicking the wiper stalk down once after doing a screen wash squirt.

I enabled the ultrasonic exterior self cleaning mode with Vagcom. It repels dirt so the car never gets dirty in the first place. Honest ;)

Do you know about windscreen wiper park? Instead of going through the DIS to set the wipers in the service position, just flick the wiper stalk within a few seconds of turning of the ignition. Wipers will park on the screen for changing wipers or washing the car.

You don't live where I do, then!

Lack of a rear wiper was the main reason that an A5 sportback wasn't on my shortlist for a new car :)
(and also, why I haven't bothered with the rear camera option. The numberplate and boot release area is a magnet for mud)

I would love to turn off the headlight washers as all they ever do is cover the bonnet with washer fluid, very annoying when you have very recently cleaned the car.

I believe you can disable the option in the Cent. Elec module in VCDS - module 09 byte 20.

As far as I know you can change the length of time before the headlight washers active which I suppose would be handy! :) ..

This changed on MY2014 cars, it used to be "with dipped headlights on, every 5 screen washes the headlighs were washed" now its "every other wash when dipped headlights are on".

This can't be changed in the MMI, not sure about VCDS as its a EU ruling again.

The ends of the nozzles are missing from my headlight washers so it just empties it onto the road which is embarrassing lol

Yes the timings are all changeable via VCDS. including how often they activate and for how long you need to hold the wiper stalk for until they activate.
