Is it just my car, or does everyone elses s3 only do a needle sweep on every 2nd engine start?

Its odd!
 
Oh and why does my avatar show a big yellow face but in my profile its fine with a pic of my car?
 
Needle sweep is accessories on, doesn't need to be engine start.

The s3 I test drove did the needle sweep everytime
 
Yeo, don't get the needle sweep every time. Hadn't really done much investigation or really paid too much attention but thought it didn't do it if the mirrors are moving out. Of course, could just be imagining that.
 
I'm pretty sure mine does it everytime, not that I've took much notice but I think I would notice if it didn't do it, I'm gonna check in a bit, will post here to get back to u.

Very odd... Mine definitely does it every second time....

Question is, is it a fault or is it something they have done in newer software releases? My car was built in March 2015 and delivered mid April...

I'm not overly fussed about it and certainly wouldn't waste time booking it in to be checked, just thought it was odd how it only does it every second time

Oh I Dont have folding mirrors so thats not linked to it either!
 
Just checked and mine definitely does it every time, mine is BW13 so around the time.

Its very strange!!!! Looks like phatgit has the same issue as me.. When was yours built phatgit?
 
Do u have smart key or normal? I have normal keys.

Enabled through VCDS, mine doesn't always sweep. It's as though they stick.
 
Normal key....
Funny thing is, it always does it every second time, kinda feels like it was designed to do it that way!
 
Just Checked on my S3.
Key turned to ON => Needle Sweep
Motor Turned On then Off.
Key to Off the to On => No Needle Sweep (!)
Key to Off then to On => Neddle Sweep

Yup, sounds like mine......its a strange one!
 
Just cheched again.

If you wait less than 2 secs in OFF position betwee two ON then NO sweep !

In other cases sweep any time ! :)
 
No, i can go out to mine for the first drive of the day and sometimes it sweeps, sometimes it doesnt!

Oh well! No biggie, just wondered if anyone else had this problem...
 
Mine doesn't do it every time. Every other time is about right though. BW6 2015.
 
Just to add to the discussion, I've noticed for a long time that mine doesn't sweep on every occasion, but it's not consistent and perhaps only misses one sweep in eight or ten instances! I've always just put it down to one of those things! (Car is a BW24/2014)

Can't remember the exact build week, but was mid July last year
 
Greetings from greece, i also have the A3 8V 2014 , i did also activated the nidle sweep through a machine in the audi dealer with the help from the notes in here but it does the same issue with most in here. Has anyone found a solution?
