got chance of some s4 front breaks to go on my a4 cab Quattro 1.8t . Sheild discs and calipers with carriers will these bolt on to my hub ok also which break hose will it need an s4 one or will mine fit

Make sure to update the brakes module on VCDS to get the ECU to use them properly for ABS situations

Are all s4 cailpers the same I've just seen some 2008 2015 ones

If not going the OEM route with S4 brakes does this still need to be updated on VCDS?
As in, im planning on drilled disc brakes/pads on my A4 Cab which arent OEM.

VCDS whould be used when changing the brake disk size, so the ABS unit knows what it is managing..............nothing to do with it being drilled etc

Thanks Mike, Useful to know.
What I meant, was the brakes im eyeing up are just aftermarket drilled ones but not OEM.

No you will not need VCDS as long as you replace with the same dimensions. The finish (dimpled, grooved or drilled etc) does not matter to the system

Great. Thanks again for the input.

What needs to be changed Mike, is there a how to for it as this is the first time I've ever seen anybody mention this?

I'm going to be fitting S4 front and rear brakes in the next couple of weeks, and I want them to be as functional as possible.

The instructions are part of the cruise control mod when setting the ABS unit. There is a 3 digit code that you need to match the new brakes fitted and this is set in VCDS.

Brakes will still work without doing this but the car will not know you have better brakes and have the approiate settings set to manage/control them in an emergency situation for example. The car may under respond or more likely over react due to thinking it has the smaller brakes/calipers/discs still and unsettle the car because the brakes are doing a better job than expected.

That is the theory behind it all and the reason why VWG have different ABS settings (average of 5) for per model due to the range of brake setups.

Thanks again Mike, just realized I definitely will need to also do this also as the break upgrade I go for will no doubt be larger than OEM to accommodate the 20's i've put on.

Ah yes I remember having to go through all that when I had to do it from someone who had had cruise fitted, but it hadn't been coded correctly.

I thought the code had to match what was on the car originally thought to let you log in, not to set it. You learn something every day.

No. The login code has to be what you have/want/upgrade fitted not the original off the top of my head.......and the whole process has to be completed in one continuous stage from start to finish for it to register

I shall have to get vcds connected up then as I fitted s4 345mm brakes ages ago

Need this part anyone got???
8eo 615 133 f
8eo 615 134 f
Bracket for flexi pipe

Well I went down scrap yard today where I know has 2 b6 a4s in and managed to get the brackets off with a little bit of a mod I've made some ..all I had to do was take the bend out of the bracket and drill hole bigger fact the bracket of a normal a4 will be better cos the standard bracket you get on s4's gets in the way when you've got to swop pads

I believe the PR code for the S4 brakes is 1LJ, but it would be worth double checking that before coding them in if you get around to it before I fit mine.

Just got a hard line to make up as its on back order from audi then if it's not raining tomorrow after gonna start to fit them

Well breaks are now on

I'm picking up my S4 rears on Wednesday, so hopefully I'll be able to get them all fitted next weekend.

Bleed them all night.. What a pedal I now have awesome just need to look out for s4 rears now .. Anyone no of any

Did you change settings with vcds? to get full braking power

5 = Brembo 17" (PR-1LJ) - B6/7 S4
4 = FN3 16" (PR-1LT/1LF) - 312mm
3 = HP2 16" (PR-1LX) - 320mm B5 S4
3 = FNR 16" (PR-1LA/1LG) - 320mm B7
2 = FN3 15" (PR-1LB/1LE) - 288mm B6
1 = C54 (PR-1LZ) - 280mm B6.

Got the rears fitted today well yesurday and today what a job getting the old break lines apart from the flexi pipe good job I've got a break pipe flairing tool .. Had to cut the nut off making sure I had plenty of straight pipe left so I could re flair the end with a new break pipe nut fitted new hoses to .. On undoing the cailper carrier first turn of the Allen key it slipped off so as I didn't need that anyone out with the grinder dead easy that way lol ..

I would advise using S4 hoses though, they're ever so slightly longer. I found my 312mm brake hoses stretched to fit.

Why won't vcds let me put the log in code in so I can change soft coding for abs the code I'm trying is 09375 which is the correct code for my car

Sometimes you need to put in a workshop number (or something along those lines), but I've just got in from the boozer so can't remember how to work it out now.

Go on the wiki page as I'm sure it tells you all the info you need on there.
