My 2001 S3 had a shallow sump when I bought the car, as a result there is nowhere for the oil level sensor to go. I think it was even cut off. My problem is that the light is always on, and it can't be coded out afaik. Does anyone know how to fix this? I was thinking a resistor, but I've no idea which one.

Fit a proper sump.... shallow sump isn't actually shallow... just has a steel bottom that should be a little more knock resistant

There is not a way to code it out that I am aware but I believe it to be part of the instruments so maybe some soft coding in there for it..

I'm aware of that, but it makes it so so much easier to clean the oil pick up.

When you say soft coding, what exactly do you mean? I do have easy access to vag com so if it's possible that way I can do it myself.

I'd agree on that. I wouldn't change it. The car was very low at one point hence why someone changed it. I couldn't be bothered to change it back.

Looks to be for a Mk5 chassis instrument pod.... have you verified the adaption channels yourself?

I need to look into the MPG one as I will need to fine tune this once I have correct the relevant tables in the map for injector sizing

No, I never did verify

Attached the old oil sensor to the bottom the steel plate

dirty, crude and somewhat defeating the purpose of a shallow sump

Still gave a little more clearnace than a stock sump and I figured a smaller target to hit

g-werks sent me a link ref sensor

Sorry know the link I posted was for later model, but I do remember it being instrument cluster

I can't seem to find half the info in ross-tech that there used to be

Do you have to havea log in account now for full info ?

The shallow sump is a stock vag part
