Afternoon lads started the car this afternoon and noticed an awful sound from the bottom end never been there before and knowing my luck it needs a rebuild, and a guide price on a stroker bottom end or rebore please

Sound clip not working on my phone mate might just be me tho

Could be duel mass flywheel? If not conrod failure I'd suggest.

Does pressing the clutch change anything? Does it get worse as you drive?

hope it is the fly wheel pal, if not im no expert but i would measure down to the pistons through the spark plug holes while each is at tdc (can move them with a socket on the cam wheel) to check for a bent rod. could also drop the sump and see if theres a oil squirter laying in there as i have read they rattle off if a rod bends, you can look up quite easily once the sumps off and oil pump outta the way (oil pump is three nuts) then again ive read you can quite easily see if its bent... no oil warning light i take it as you havent mentioned it?

Can't hear it when driving lee just when stood by the car I've driven it in 3rd 4th and 5th up a hill to get it under strain no knocking that I can hear it doesn't help that the car is loud anyway lol, I've also revved let it drip then quickly revved and no more or less knocking,

Mine had initial chatter but is silent now. do you mean you have that to install or already fitted?

It will be noisy then lol I'm getting a new gearbox soon aswell so will sort that out, it's not in yet it's in my conservatory waiting to be fitted, I've just checked the noise only comes after it's been on for a minute now really strange anyhow got the girlfriend to press in clutch and the noise vanishes what does this mean fellas? Sorry for my dumbness

If it has single mass flywheel clutch release may be noisy. If it's duel mass. The flywheel is ********

I have a valeo clutch and solid flywheel kit I can get them for a decent price I've had one in mine for 3 + years the only people who say solid flywheels are noisy on a 1.8t have never had one as you get a minimal rattle at most you can barely hear it over the exhaust.

Sorry mate, who the f*ck are you? . . I've had three cars with SMF and I can tell you the noise level is down to the state of the gearbox.

The lighter SMF will make engine RPMs less stable, the fluctuating revs will accentuate gearbox slap...

Stop being a know it all c***. . . Again

Oh look my friends here hi Jardo ..... Slight over reaction from vag slag there if I recall ben (mrharris2) when you heard my car Sunday did you here any gearbox noise? Simply stating my experience from the 5 or 6 cars I have fitted these to no need to have a bitch fit so relax and pop this back in.

Yeaaaahhh... To be fair, I was a little drunk and wan't about to listen to someone basically saying I didn't know what I was on about. . . And you weren't "Simply stating your experience" what you actually said was "the only people who say solid flywheels are noisy on a 1.8t have never had one" which implies you think I'm chatting sh!t, does it not?

Anyway, my point remains the same... SMF can be very noisy depending on state of gearbox

Blown out of proportion for a comment that has been taken the wrong way ..... Let's just leave it here and agree we both could of put it better most I've fitted them to have been 120000 mile plus just luck of the draw I guess

I must have a good box I was expecting chatter but literally have non lol. Makes a change I usually have all the bad luck. good luck with the clutch mate.
