What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Swapped bulbs with a mate as his MOT is due and the tester has a thing for HID's

he might not get them back

Got one rear s4 break cailper and carrier on today knightmare is an understatement .. First off with the cailper .. Easy then this is where the fun starts.. Who ever replaced the discs last rounded out the Allen key bolt so out came the grinder and cut it off right on the bolts ..it just fell off ..As I didn't need it anymore .. So with that out of the way next was the disc popped right off .. Then the dust shield was next .. I looked at the torque bolts and thought this is gonna be fun but they undid with easy .. Next was the hard bit undoing the flexi pipe from the hard line .. Loads of wd40 on the nut as I could see it was very rusty ..Break spanner on the nut and moul grips on the flexi and tried to undo it but nothing happened I ended up rounding the nut off so out with the grinder again and cut it of as close as I could to the bracket then this is where I get clever I managed to get my flairing tool on the pipe and managed to redo the flair nealy forgot to pop the nut on the break pipe .. It worked so built it all back up and just need cailper carrier bolts and bleed it .. Gonna do other side tomorrow I hope it's be easier then the side I've done .. Pop pics up tomorrow after I've finished

Well not much gone on of late due to my bad back, and my lad starting his football academy taking up Saturdays, but today I've got a box of small easy stuff to fit.

Oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, and pollen filter for it's 5k service, and the egr delete with new silicon elbow, and new silicon vac pipe to simplify the vac lines at the same time.

I'm still having trouble with my back so the brakes, exhaust, and other large items are off the menu for the time being. I've had enough of the NHS wasting my time now, so I've gone private to get acupuncture, and deep muscle massage and electro therapy. It's not cheap, but it's been four months since I first went the the doctors with this and they still haven't even sent me to see a specialist.

VW heated fan jet washers and rocker cover gasket for the offside bank which has been weeping since I bought the car 18 months ago! Maybe now I can clean the oil off my drive...

FAILED AN MOT TODAY!!
it failed on front pads being down to metal just about, and a NS front shocker bolt wasn't sitting right and must of been crossed threaded by the last person to undo it and wasn't tight.

Needs a new bolt, but should only be a few quid, and just replaced the pads, it cost £36 I think.

It now stops on point now, also painted my front calipers quickly with black hammerite

New wing mirror glass will be here tmra too, it's not ******* out diesel or oil anymore either.

I was going to get rid of it this week and buy a newer car, so it must of scarred it into being a good car again

On monday I put coilovers on, Tuesday I raised the rear up, and today I put the standard suspension back on the rear, with the fronts to do on Saturday.

Coilovers will then be sold!

Fitted my coilovers this eve. Had intentions of lowering it just a little bit but all I can say it's oops! With a massive grin on my face

New battery - new spring (rear) - new exhaust - new tyre (caught a sharp stone) - new brake calliper - new dipstick tube - all in the last 5 months. Very "ouch" financially! Still, with 136,000 on her can I complain? If I hadn't done the big spend on the cam belt towards the end of last year, I'd just spend £5 on petrol, stand well back and add a match.

Covers fitted!
And a well deserved bath.

Nothing is actually fixed here or trimmed neatly.

Top original securing holes,i just lined up and used longer self tappers.

Bottom 3 holes i made,i just self tapped with some glue on threads, and filled down what poked through.about 1mm.

Not having proper top self tappers i put a cable tie in the middle until i get hold of some black wider self tappers.

Hardest part was trimming took an hour start to finish.

Ive got the matching top grille but dont like the black trim,i like chome.did i just say that lol.factory looking i meant ;)
insurance are funny buggars.

You need to cut out the mesh holes on the drivers side fog light grill

Any idea what caused it to blow up? Did you get a recon bv43?

yeh a re-con bv43. According to the people I got the new turbo from, they stripped the old unit and found it failed due to oil contamination, which I put from the previous owner as I changed mine wen I fitted the turbo

Why theres no intercooler there.i know it will look better but serves no purpose does it?

Bummer mate. Did they say what kind of contamination? I thought it may have been wear and tear if it was an old bv43

I'm definitely missing a few covers under my bonnet then. Looks soo much tidier.

I noticed that also, im missing most of those covers bar the engine cover! I have the engine cover caps on my cover though!!

Got my tracking sorted following fitment of my coilovers and wheels at the weekend. Every flipping bolt had welded itself into position. My mechanic mate was a very unhappy camper when he gave the keys back to me. Thanks salty air!

Fitted a stupidly small 3" diameter center resonator today. I was used to the 3" exhaust making a lot of noise, but it also had a loud screeching and sizzling noise through it, and it resonated like a b**ch at motorway speeds.

I've fitted a small 3" resonator; a straight-through type, with perforated sidewalls, so no flow restrictions. I have to say - the change is amazing. I never would have dared to think it would make a difference this big... The screeching is virtually gone, and the whole exhaust note is toned down a little. Maybe even a little bit too much, haha!

I have to check for cruising speed drones and resonances, but otherwise, it seems to be a lot more civilized as it is now..

All talk, no show? Pictures and a video below.

Also, gave it a good washing yesterday. And yes, that's odd, as I'm considered one of the few who actually loathe washing my car. It's a sad but mandatory evil.

Then, the exhaust. This is as it was: a full 3" pipe starting from the turbo, all the way to the back. Nothing in it - just piping.

Thats odd Bastet... from the noise, you almost wouldn't know it was a diesel. I was listening on my phone though so might sound completely different through a proper speaker.

It sounds much better through proper speakers ;). You're missing out on all the low notes on your phone :D

Sounding nice, and thanks - that's one more thing added to the wish-list... gotta stop coming on ASN!

I could say that I'm sorry, but I'm not :D

Keep in mind - this is a DIY exhaust... a friend of mine baked it, just a bunch of 3" tubing, only the first 3-5 inches are 2,5" dia because a 3" bend would be too big.. Clearance is about 3mm near the gearbox mount.. but otherwise, best mod ever!

Today I ended up buying my A4 1.8T S-Line 190bhp

Gave it a wash and now my heads spinning in terms what niggly things to fix then what stuff to upgrade tuning wise. I've only had it less that 8 hours and my mind is on overload.
