hello everyone. Wondering if any has had same problem as I'm having.
Bought my A4 Avant two weeks ago, 2008 on a 57 plate, 2.0l TDI.

when I get in and turn it on it sounds like there is a frog in the glove box or passenger door croaking, 6 to 8 times then stops, the same noise then recurs with one "ribbit" at a time with long intervals in between, anyone else heard this?

Cheers
Stephen

sounds like the heater control flaps doing their basic settings.

Really, is that located on that side? It's quite loud, I wouldn't have thought Audi intended it to make the noise it does.

I notice you have added Bluetooth to your rsn-e system (have I read that right?) how do you do that?

Yes they're located behind the glovebox.

Yup added it a couple of years back, you can buy a plug and play kit from eBay however I sourced my controller & mic separately and a custom harness , I can send you a link if you want to the ebay one.

That would be good. My system has Mics and steering wheel controls for Audi phone system, any way to connect into that system? Spoke to local audio company who say no and want to fit a £300 pound parrot kit with a new Mike and a controller the would stick on the wheel....... Not my preferred option.

Did you sort the frog in your glove box as mine does the same and it's really annoying!!!

Welcome to the forum @Gazah19

In all honesty you could do with someone to do a VCDS scan on the car as there are several motors that can cause the issue and it will show you which one is faulty....it will also show up anything else that may not be right with her. CLICK HERE and look on the map for anyone that is nearby.

Need to get around to sorting this issue out on mine. It tends to be the recirc flap motor that does it although there are others in the same area behind the glovebox but an easy check is to hit the recirc button when it starts doing it and see if that stops it although it will start again shortly after. Its a fault with the potentiometer which tells the climate controller the position of the flap, these work on resistance and get dirty which changes the resistance then the controller keeps trying to turn the motor when it hits the stop and the noise is the plastic gears jumping. The climate starts with the flap closed iirc then swirches to open after a short time.

Thanks for the reply! Is it a job I could do myself or best to take it to a garage?

I had this same issue in mine a few weeks back. The culprit was a motor which opened up the main flap on the heater matrix, it must have been jammed as when I stripped the motor down some of the components had jarred and faulted rendering it useless.

I bought another off eBay as I didn't want to throw £100 at Audi like they had quoted for the part. The one from eBay gave me the same issue

I've disconnected the wiring until I have chance to pick a new one up from Audi.

The frog has left the car!!!!!
All I done was identified the faulty one and opened it up. On mine it was the motor itself was not pushed far enough in the housing so the two plastic cogs wasn't touching each other to turn the mechanism it was just gliding over the top of it making the frog noise! All I did was place a thin bit of card board on the moter and closed it up again making sure the cogs were now touching and that's it! 30 min job and now I'm very happy and it cost zero!
Hope that helps some of you!
