Audi S3 & RB320

So you didnt like a colour?

I prefer a blobeye but if you prefer the hawkeye then thats the best one for you

And they are reliable etc??

No sorry I know people like different cars it's personal opinion but I prefer the hawkeye.

In four years of twinscroll ownership, and the car being ten years old and driving like i stole it everyday , it needed a wheel bearing. One wheel bearing. Never failed an mot. Bet your audi has needes more than that in its far shorter life :)

Hahaha more than likely it's having an ABS pump tomorrow under warranty tho haha.

So what's the difference between them mate? Educate me?

I like this 1 also eBay - 271827655215

I think its time you start to do some of your own research ;) Lots of info on Scoobynet.

Thats egay car is Spec D with a load of crap fitted to it. It was a Scoobynets member cars that was sold to that dealer for a lot less than they have it up for. Its the problem at the moment, very bad dealers like Cheshire Performance and Clives PErformance are buying up all the Imprezas, especially twinscrolls (not RB320's as no one wants to pay the premium for a set of mesh grills :)) and selling them on with 3-4k added.

Avoid anything from either of those dealers - read the horror stories on Scoobynet.

I know I need a good read up but a quick run down from yourself would be much appreciated as you have helped me out a lot the last few days.

Ok will miss them out then haha nice a car tho.

You wont learn anything if you get told all the answers.

Stop being lazy. I have done enough and stopped you buying a bomb, be greatful and go and learn about the great cars :)

Stay away from that car on ebay, it's been for sale since last summer, first privately in Bolton, then at cheshire performance, then down South somewhere, I was going to buy it in October privately for 11k but something didn't seem right about it.

Awww man, what if I said I can't read haha.

No probs cheers mate will read up on them, and considering you helped me out not wasting £10k+ on a rat thanks much appreciated.

I've always wanted one, and like yourself wanted a hawkeye, it's difficult to find a honest one, stay away from cheshire performance and Clive's performance though, they have what look like nice cars in but read a lot of bad stories about them, like the other guys say scoobynet has loads of info on it, there's a link to the 2.5 engine failures on there with 80+ pages I think! that's got to tell you something about them cars

Haha very true not good at all 80 pages would bore me to death!

I think I have learnt abit of Dubjam.

Only get a 2.5 if it's been forged with proof, or buy a twinscroll 2.0.

I know you said you were bored of the S3 Charlie but sure with the APR map you have on and your figures, you have a much faster weapon than a scooby! ??

Hi compkiler, well I did have that was my S3 I had last year, sold it for a ****** Range Rover Sport worst mistake ever so I px it for another S3 but I'm back to the start again. And after my last S3 this one doesn't come anywhere near :keule::(

Mate I would put some money into the s3 and forget about the Scooby! Tin cans on wheels! So many people say the s3 is boring but with the right mods I think they are quite a fun car to drive!

I am currently working on my sisters scoob and what I forgot to bring to my shop to work on the car was chopsticks. Hardly any room in there. Stick with the s3 and bump up to a stage 3 on it and you won't be bored no more.

Lol, none of you have ever driven a proper Subaru. They are far superior to an S3 in every performance way. Granted the insides are more functional that 'bling' but the mechanical car is so far ahead of the computerised S3.

Just looking at jdm stis on tinterweb. I'm tempted myself! The noise and feeling of that boxer engine sitting low to the ground in a proper recaro bucket seat with a roll cage and the smell of petrol around me. Racing steering wheel in one hand and an 'old fashioned' manual stick in the other. Fast and furious! Lol

You wont get a burble with a JDM newage as they use twinscroll turbos and equal length headers. The normally known Subaru burble is made the unequal length headers..HOWEVER, the JDM sounds like a wailing banshee on full chant, almost formula 1...its immense and addictive, and its there from the start, and past the end ;)

No major electronics, no big chav wheels or flappy paddle boxes, just point to point at warp speed :)

Awesome. If it wasn't for the ridiculous tax and running costs i would trade the s3 in for one today!

Again, JDMs are different, most of the Blobs are on the reduced tax being imported and the majority of Hawks are also. I paid £120 a year for a 2004 car, and my pal pays the same on his 2007 Hawkeye.

The running costs are far lower than an S3. One, they barely ever go wrong, 2, the fuel works out around 32mpg on a run, and 3, servicing is standard once a year oil and filter, and none of the electronic crap and poor build quality of VAG cars these days.

It isnt an evo with £6K gearbox failures, and six month service interludes :)

The first one is a bugeye, it is not a twinscroll car..it does have a stronger 2.0 engine that the UK spec bugeyes, but it is not the 'ones' you want to go for.

The second is a JDM twinscroll Spec C edition. I dont like the Spec C as they are a stripped out version, and can be hard to live with on a daily basis (less sound proofing, less things like electric windows etc), but as a point to point car or a track weapon, its one of the best you can get!

You want a JDM STI 2003-2007. The later cars post 2005 have a wider track and nicer dashboard, more diserable but hold their values better.

and also NEVER buy a car from Clives Performance or Cheshire Performance. It will be the biggest mistake of your life.

Hurst Cars have a good rep though.

Wow! I like. You can get 32mpg out of that? How much is the tax? Very tempting

I dont know how much the tax is, i dont own it! They all differ depending on how they where registered when imported.

Apart from the gay spec c roof scoop it is epic. Id be tempted myself must admit

Yeah i could get 30-32mph out of my blob...i owned a type r impreza before that, could only manage 20 but it was an epic 20.

Ah I see. Yeah I'm not into the roof scoop.

Anyone want to buy this so I can get it?! lol

Ill give you five grand and a bag of monster munch. Itll start you off

Ha ha, going back to the OPs question. I looked at the RB edition before I got the S3 and ruled it out because it would cost too much to run. I didn't know that an import would be lower tax. If you're looking for an sti I would seriously consider ones like that white 06 Hawkeye. looks epic!

You missed out, I sold my silver twinscroll blob for £10k just before Christmas...and it was absolutely mint.

I like them. They look amazing in the flesh..and drive sublime, if not a little less entertaining...but far more driver orientated than an S3, nowehere near boring, just a little more refined. It takes a good driver to drive one on the edge of its ability though...way out of my league of talent :)

lol, that would be tough to drive on the road. I really feel over 400bhp in a good no lag turbo system is more than enough for street driving. But a lot of bang for your buck in that one..depending who built it mind.
