The latest challenge is a sticky caliper - my first line of attack is to pull and grease the sliding pins - naturally Halfords have never heard of what I beleive is a specific grease for these and suggest Coppaslip. Thoughts and advice all welcome.

It has had new brakes / pads recently and that side was a ****** to get the pistons back, so I suspect I'll end up having yet another garage bill to sort that if lubing the pins doesn't work. Quite happy to replace brakes - less happy pulling the piston and fettling the seal, largely as I suspect I'll end up with an imobile car and no means of getting anywhere to do it for me speedily.

New exhaust - new dipsick tube and rear spring (that was a scary bill for a minor job!), new front suspension arms, new battery and a new tyre all in the last 6 months so not happy right now :-(

The car is just a 2.0 FSI so nothing fancy in the brake department. Thanks, Mike.

Copparslip isn't recommend on the brakes as it starts gumming up the sliding pins. You'll do far worse than to find a proper auto factors local to you who know what they are selling instead of Halfords.

Cheers - mirrors my own thoughts - what am I asking for? "Brake pin grease??"

Apparently silicone based is best. Most recommend Castrol red brake grease.

I've got some breaks for sale if yours aren't working 320mm

I would look for a decent replacement rather than overhaul

Yes, probably a good idea. I'll do some searching - any idea which models use this caliper? Does B7 use same?
