Odd fast high pitched ticking, help?!

Recently bought a TT TDI Quattro Sport and I noticed this high pitched tick at the weekend after I left my door open to reverse on the drive slightly. It starts at 1000rpm.



It's coming from the bottom left of the covered engine area, diesel fuel pump maybe?

My tech knowledge is very limited. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this normal? Because if it isn't I'm taking it back to the dealer (franchise but not Audi) to get fixed asap.

It sounds like a hydraulic valve lifters

So is it normal or something up with the valve lifters?

Going to pop it into Audi today. I bought it on 21st from another garage though so they should do the fixing if it is an issue.
 
did you get this diagnosed? I have a similar sound but at higer revs when driving.
 
I had the same noise on my a3, it never got properly diagnosed, but it disappeared when I had a new cambelt kit and water pump fitted

The audi tech that had a listen yesterday did mention it could be from one of the pully driven bits. Hopefully find out soon.
 
Hope you get it sorted mate, nothing more annoying than unwanted rattles and ticks from an engine.
