Looking to get a set of 20"alloys and tyres for my "new"C5 Allroad. She's currently on the normal 225/55/17 package.

Got my eye on a set of 245/45/20's. Been told the offset is ET35 and wanted to space her (Just looked again at the website they say et 45?). Was told 10mm spacers would be just right. Will this wheel/ tyre spacer combo be okay.

Looking at 45 profile just to give me a little more protection/comfort to better handle the rubbish road conditions around now. The overall circumference on the new tyres is 720mm which is 2.5 inches more than the standard 17" tyres.

Thoughts and experiences welcomed.

You would probably need 15-20mm spacers I would think. As it is there is only about 10mm clearance to suspension strut with 225 wide 7.5J wheels. Also check that centre bore is same as current wheels.
The main thing to watch on Allroad is that "IF" suspension fails wheels dont get stuck on fenders when it drops down!

Thanks All-rod. Got to get a definitive answer on the offset. I thought I should have more spacer than 10mm. Not thought of the failed suspension scenario. It would mean recovery home if that happened.

I'm running a 245/35/20 on my S6, I went for an extra load tyre and found it to be more cumfortable than the 45mm tyre that came on the standard 18's.

My wheels are ET25 all round, perfect fit, no rubbing.

I run 8.5/9.5 19" BBS LM think ET45 (I'll check) with a 25mm spacer and I want bigger and wider!
I have 245/40/19 all round

Thanks for your post Chris. Just convinces me more that if I go bigger it will be 20's. I'm hanging fire on with the Alloys at the moment. Got a set of Audi mud flaps to fit first and the standard Audi 225/55/17 tyres have virtually new Pirellis on so thought I'd run them down this summer and eventually use them for the winter tyre set.

What's the max spacer you can use on the Audi 17" (et25) is it 20mm or 15mm, if so might get a set and use them on the 20's when I buy as well?

25mm will go with the stock wheels and they will go fine with some 20" alloys if you find wheels with offset 35-45mm. One of my mates just fitted 9"x19" wide a8 alloys with 255/35/19 Kumho Ecsta tyres and 15mm spacers allround. Very, very nice stance and drives better than on stock 17" wheels ! I will ask him to upload a few pictures...

Thanks Chris, useful info. Got my eye on these Wolfrace alloys. States ET45 on 8.5J'S on the web blurb:

If I can go to 25mm spacers can I buy spacers that are permanently fixed independently with out going with extentended wheel bolts? Just think it would be safer and easier when swapping wheels around.

Venom Motorsport do the H&R ones which in my opinion are the best as they have steel inserts to bolt to, just be aware that they list their website as a total track widening so if you want 25mm per side you need to order 50mm and the best ones are the B+ style.
I have ran these on my last 4 cars and would definitely recommend them.
I need to sort mine this week, refurb the lips and get the new tyres fitted.
Will have some 245/40/19 uniroyal rainsport 3's for sale if anyone needs them.

What colour is your car? I think these are awesome but probably only on a black car

I agree with Chris. I run 35mm H&R adapters for my Q7 wheels. The quality is second to none and give you 100% confidence.

What i found is the lip that goes over the hub is very thin and snaps of the alloy spacers, the steel ones in the link i provided do not break so they are more suited to heavy cars...

The quality of the H&R or Eibach's cannot be questioned- they are machined in Germany to a very high standars however i prefer steel instead of alloy...

Here's my old girl Chris T. I do like them black Munich's I think they'll look okay on her with the green!

Plenty of room for 20"'s. She's on level 3 there. Ordered the steel spacers on ebay. Took Chris's advice as he has far more experience than me with these cars and there less than half the price. Not going to notice any added weight on a car like this and it ain't going to win super car of the year! Got my customery 4" end cans on and decatted her ready for a trip down Muswell Hill for a proper turbo.

Here's my B6 V6 back on the road. Got my Nuvolaris on now, shame they will look lost on the Allroad. They are a smaller circumference than the standard Allroad 17" even though they are 225/40/18's:
