If you keep the centre box you should avoid the owl sound, I think you only get it with a straight through system.
Someone should be along to confirm that soon enough.

The Choo comes from no wadding in the boxes instead its a deflection baffle set up .

Just 1 straight through box packed with wadding will cut out the choo.

I hope so,has anyone got any videos i can view ,thats not on YouTube.
I haven't seen many.

All I did was this

And it looks like this

No difference in sound as I too didn't want it to sound like something it's not.

Id like a slight tone change just not that noise lol.

It does sound cheap , okish with std system but is loud with no boxes or deletion of some boxes.

This one is mine, all it has in this video is the rear silencers removed. Original centre silencer still in place. It sounds a lot less 'owlie' in reality and more like a turbo whistle. Although I only ever hear it from inside the car.

I prefer yours @Greeny233 tbh but with a decat aswel reckon ill get the choo? how did yoy get the black bit carbon?

The carbon wrap on the rear bumper was a 'quick fix'. When I fitted the twin cut out valance I ordered the black vinyl strip for the bumper but I made a mess of putting it on. I had some carbon wrap left over from doing my interior trim so I used that instead.

I wander if i put some on before painting, mask it. then a laquer all? i was going to spray it matt black anyway or satin.

From this to this, just twin pipes welded on, will be goin for full straight through with same size tips, for a bit of top end howl lol

I have a full turbo back stainless no cat or boxes and its doesn't coo and I'm a mate of Quattro matty and I'd say his drones worse than mine with no boxes.

So what the best set up then?
I was going to gut the cat and back box and leave the tail pipes hidden

Gutting a cat or dpf isn't ideal as the gasses expand and cool and slow down.

To keep good gas speed weld in a staight through pipe.

well I have just tried recording some drive by and moving videos, but the GoPro suction cup won't stick to the car for more than 30 seconds and the microphone on the GoPro is rubbish.

No worries thanks for trying pal, day ive had not going to bother. Only went and left the decat at home so smashed guts out of my original. Tps gave me all wrong bolts and gaskets how i dont know....so i have a decat up for sale

What gopro you got im looking at getting one,i havent a clue the 3+ looks ideal for me

Cover your ears :puke2:

Ha, I can top that :D (2.5 V6 though)

Full 3" turboback, no mufflers/resonators/silencers, decat. Just straight through piping. Drones like crazy at 80mph, but silent at 60-70mph. Hate the screeching noise though, so I'm going to mount a tiny open mid silencer soon (pipe with perforations and wadding).

For 1.9TDI's - not sure how a fully gutted system would sound, but the screeching and sizzling is likely to appear too...
