After being sat outside the house looking sorry for itself (although it has been washed twice, which is 2 times more than the Mondeo) it's finally time to get my finger out.

Spent this afternoon fitting a new battery as the old one went flat and wouldn't take a charge and freeing off the handbrake after the cretin of a recovery driver applied it so hard the lever was vertical and wouldn't release.

Also modified the hub nut cover so the wheel centre caps fitted.

Saddly as my time is so taken up with renovating my old flat and work the repair work is not DIY but has been entrusted to my good mate Rob and the boys at SCC Performance. Hoping to be running by the end of the month.

Well that was a shock. After pulling the engine and it being solid the fault revealed itself. The DMF had completely exploded inbound and jammed itself against the block. Bit of a sod the engine had to be pulled before this was discovered but those are the breaks sometimes. Looking at upgrades now to see how best to proceed. Thinking ECS flywheel and Sachs S4 clutch

Engine is fine by all accounts. Once the engine was pulled and they started tinkering the offending piece fell out and the whole thing turned beautifully.

Finding a clutch option that is quick and won't bankrupt me is proving tricky though. The ECS kit has to be ordered from the states so is a no go.The ECP Valeo unit is ruled out as the friction plate is unique to their kit and unlikely to survive the abuse :(

It's looking like I may have to spend out on a Sachs DMS and clutch kit knowing full well it may need to be revisited in the not terribly distant future.

Oh wow, very reasonable. Unfortunately there is a 3 week turn around and my mate needs his workshop back so need to tow the old girl back to my mums place at the weekend until the bits arrive. Might as well look in the bay and have a clean up whilst the motor is out.

Is the LUK RS4 clutch any good? Stock RS4 is doing 380bhp so should more than cope with my paltry 300ish.

Does anybody know if a dampening pulley is needed with a single mass flywheel?

LUK RS4 flywheel will be fine and the engine already has a damped crank pulley so no need to do anything else, just bolt it on :)
