Had 2013 A4 2.0L TDI S Line for 2 weeks now. Filled it up 3 times and each time it has spurted diesel out from the filling pipe. Done it at 3 different garages so must be something with the car. Is there a breather pipe or something that gets blocked?

Other than that enjoying the car, had a 2008 A4 and no similar issues, nor with the 2 A3's I have had.

Any help appreciated before I rung the local dealership.

You just have to make sure you stop at the first click! There is no space in the tank after that at all, I always used to like to round up to the nearest £ but can't in my 2014 A5

I see, does this happen on all A4 and A5's of this age? It clicks off but then pours out after a second, almost like there is an air lock in the tank.

Seems it is something I will need to get used to, thought there was a faulty filter or breather pipe at 1st!!!

Mine has never poured out before the first click, inly if I try to squeeze in a little more, it just doesn't fit!

Never had the problem with my last A4 or old A3, might be the force of the fuel being pumped into the tank when full and no where to go.

Since you don't need to worry about if the fuel nozel is going to fit like on mine, never had a problem on my old A4!!

Mine clicks off then there is a seconds delay before it pours out

I've not experienced this on my 2009. I normally give it 3 clicks (weird ocd thing) without any overspill

2008 A4 was fine, 2013 one has different fill pipe. Will experiment another couple of times before I take it in.

Try using a different garage? Maybe the fill rate is too high and it's foaming up.

It's done it at 3 different ones. Am fairly confident it is a breather pipe or filter that is blocked and causing a pressure build up in the tank.

Update: went into Audi and faulty sensor in filler pipe was cause. Pipe and tank one unit and sensor built in so both swapped under warranty and problem solved.
