Hi, can anyone shed any light onto this problem? It doesn't make sense to me.
I have checked my cigarette lighter with a multimeter and i have 12v. I proved it worked by trying the actual lighter itself, so i know it has current too.
But when i plug in a usb device and the iphone cable it will not charge my phone.
I have checked the usb device, it is giving me 5v. I can charge my colleagues Samsung but it wont work on my iphone. It's totally bizzare!
I've tried several cables, they all work when i plug them into any other usb port.
Has anyone experienced this? I'm at a loss what i can try next.
This is on my C6 2006 A6 Allroader

Iphones can be very funny about chargers, try another charger.

Hi there, i had tried four different makes of charger to no avail. But would you believe it, the 5th one works.
I think you're right.
Even though all the four worked on other phones and devices the iPhone must be a bit temperamental.
Thanks

I have the exact same issue with mine! Does not charge my iphone yet charges any other android device. Very annoying indeed. What brand is the charger your using now?

Hi, i don't know the brand name sorry. It was just another cheapo Chinese one i had lying around. I guess it's really worth buying the authentic charger for the iphone and be done with it.

i found a big difference with the type of leads to some work then stop working but seem to work in the original iphone charger. seems the apple ones still work the best. not sure why.
also the cheap ones also tend to have nasty switch mode power supply's that really mess with the FM and Dab signal.

Had the same problem with my 2016 A6. not charging my Iphone Tried both the Audi connector and several 12v power/USB connectors. A kind lady I spoke to who had the same issue with her A3 found a car charger and lead from Carphone Warehouse worked for her. A bit pricey at £19.99 but it worked in my A6 as well, so all sorted now.

It's the amp rating of the USB charger that matters when charging iPhones. Most chargers will be 1Amp, you really need at least 2Amps. The Apple iPhone is also quite picky and won't work with a lot of 3rd party chargers, regardless of amp rating. :racer:
