Hello lads, has anyone had there car mapped to stage 2+ on a standard clutch ? It's currently stage 1 rtech map and believed to be a standard clutch! It's never slipped and has been mapped at stage one for quite some time ... Would it be okay to map it on the standard clutch as it never missed a beat or is it a must ? Cheers

I'd try it and see.

It's unlikely that the stock clutch will last long, and it may slip straightaway, but if it's not the original,or you're lucky,it may cope.

If not, then the Sachs organic and LUK DMF is a good replacement as long as you don't do drag runs.

Will it affect the mapping session if she starts slipping ? I've booked the stage 2+ map as I've fitted everything needed and the clutch never crossed my mind as had no issues.

It will have an impact on the maximum torque and possibly bhp recorded, but will not affect the map being loaded and run.

If it does slip, your tuner ought to be able to wind it back a bit so you can use it until you swap the clutch out.

Revo Stage 2 + facelift S3 Low miles.......Clutch Slip instant lol!!..... New Sach Organic Clutch and Luk Flywheel fitted next day :) :)

Better safe then sorry

Someone i know was at 2+ on a standard clutch and it got shredded. Metal bits all in the engine, starved the engine of oil.

DEAD

The person i know must be talking ***** then hah
As he takes his car to shark performence i'd assume he was right in what he was saying as it would perhaps be sugested by a mechanic. I thought myself it was rather weird hahah

I was running the standard clutch while on revo stage 1. Then took it to stage 2+ but when on WOT is started slipping, so was swiftly swapped out for the setup Alex mentioned in his first reply.

if you don't do launches and don't wot from 2000 rpm it can last, just use your gears. mine was mapped straight stage 2 and the clutch didn't like those two things. it was stage 2+ long before i got a new clutch. it lasted quite a time before i changed to smf loba/sachs setup.

R tech won't be able to map it to its full potential if it starts slipping on the dyno, it's not like everywhere else where they just flash on the powerful map and hope the hardware can support it.

Be best to replace the clutch before going for a custom map session so you don't have to go back again to get it adjusted.

Thanks for the help lads. I've decided to get it replaced before the map can anyone recommend a good forum member/company to supply a Sachs clutch Ect ??

Good idea to change it before, as mine has been tailed off to protect the clutch. Are you going to r tech to have it done? If so niki recommended fitting the rs4 fuel pressure valve too

Yea think I'm gonna get it done. Yea mate, only the best ;) I've had one fitted

Evening lads, yesterday I had a my sach organic clutch and pressure plate fitted along with a standard duel mass flywheel. I get a little bit of judder on slow moving forwards and back and also it's rattles a bit :/ ! Is this normal until the clutch is bedded in ? How does yours feel ?

Yeah it's normal, feels absolutely terrible to start with and you'll think you've made a bad decision and ruined the car. It'll get better though and it'll soon feel like the standard clutch but it'll remain as heavy as it is now.

Ahh good ! I Was thinking why did I replace it if it wasn't slipping, I should have left it alone :L ! But that's good to know lol :)

I had brand new clutch under warranty a month ago and its slipping fourth and fifth after stage 2+ lol

wont last mate

I run a Full Single mass conversion with metal plate, great on open road/track, nightmare in traffic..

We mapped plenty of these engines on stage 2+ on stock clutches, some hold some dont, its really luck of drawer

Maybe worth giving a Spec Stg3+ a try.

SMF with full face carbon metallic clutch.
Good for 560lbs and easy to use around town too.

In that case you won't like this.

AMDTUNING and Backdraft will sell you one.

Price around £1200 plus fitting if I remember

I can't even begin to tell you how much cash I've shovelled at the S3....they are not cheap to tune!

lmao i know what you mean, i bought this last year july and decided to tune it at the moment the car is totally stock but i have majority of the expensive parts at home brand new cant wait to get them on and see wat stage2+ is lyk, was very disappointed last week got blown out the water by a tuned up 2011 golf gti lmaoo. so i want some revenge lol.

well im guessing im guna have to bite the bullet and get it done from amd no point cutting corners plus wana be ready for the audi international show in august, is my 1st time going to a car show, so i really want it ready for them lol.

Mines just a 6year work in progress.

Personally I would look at a Helix with a Paddle plate.. We ran this on our A3 k04 and trust me no one drove it harder or cared less about it than Andy

Alex a quick question please, my other 8p I had 2008 had 89k on it when I went stage 1 and clutch started slipping not long after. Now question is I've now got a 2007 S3 with 58k on I'm getting the DP and de cat fitted an going stage 1 do u think the standard clutch will hold up if I'm not launching and does mileage of car have a part to play in it slipping?
Cheers in advance mate

Some cars will manage up to Stg2 on the stock clutch, where others will barely cope with Stg1.

The mileage will play some part in it,as a high mileage worn clutch is likely to chuck in the towel sooner.

All that most of us would say is that when remapping, budget on a new clutch, and if you don't need it,then you're fine.

Cheers Alex that's my thinking hold out on the remap till I can get the clutch. But then the I think stuff it just map it an hope it holds out.

I had my S3 remapped to stage 1 and had instant clutch slip around 3 - 4k rpm. Audi replaced the clutch and flywheel under warranty (bless them) and it has managed 15k just fine but now it has started slipping again as boost comes in. Guess I need to get my wallet out and uprate the clutch and then go stage 2+ :)
