Jeff's S4

Col, great work in finding that thread. Shame the footrest mod isn't a simple swap, but at least I've got a part number to work with. Can't make my mind up on the Quattro badge. Seems to fly in the face of the S4's stealth principle.

I will be very jealous of this when it arrives lol, makes my baby diesel seem poop in comparison :lmfao:

If only I didn't do so many miles :unhappy:

Jeff - just to confirm my MY14 only has pedal ally covers. So I'd be interested to here about your local part source!;)

@jdp1962 crap phone pic of pedals. No cover on foot rest.

@Bristle Hound I don't really like detailing interiors, I prefer the shiny bits outside. :) Plus it's been raining a lot this week. And that's all my excuses. :D

I agree plus the fact that my wife is the vacuum cleaner custodian so the inside cleaning is her job!
I should add, so as not to sound sexist, that she loves hoovering

OK, so I think I've sorted out the new protection detailing. All of the services in the North Kent/SE London area are incredibly expensive, so I cast my net a little wider, and have found a guy in Sussex who is happy to come up to Bexleyheath. So, barring unforseen circumstances between now and July, the new detail will be done by this firm.

The cost is £250 for the exterior, £50 for the interior, and £25 travel, so £325 all in. He's asked me to instruct Bexley Audi to remove the plastic protection stuff, but otherwise not to touch it at all. So, unless he gives me permission to give it a careful two-bucket wash, it'll be covered in sticky glue residue for the first few days of my ownership.

By a strange coincidence, the guy is based in the town I grew up in, and where my mum and one of my brothers still lives. I'll be visiting the places at least a couple of times before the S4 arrives, so will be able to look the guy up.

Next job has been to look for best deal on GAP. So far, the best I've found is £174 for vehicle replacement, through these people.

I'm now looking at alloy wheel insurance. A few that I've looked either exclude or levy a surcharge for diamond cut alloys. Am i right in thinking the 19" rotors on the S4 Black Edition are diamond cut?

I believe so Jeff but hopefully someone can confirm. I have the standard 18" as find the tyre prices enough on these. :-D

Same quote as I had for gapinsurance123

I am deferring first year and taking a 4 year policy so covering me for 5 years as my insurer does new car replacement in first year

Don't think you will get it cheaper me thinks

Yep, the 19" rotors are diamond cut on the silver bling bits and at the rim edge. Thinking of putting mine on 18" WSP's over the winter and
bagging up the rotors.

I went with these guys for gap at £150 for 3 years (back to invoice plus) after declining the dealers offer at £600 !

Thanks, gents. The wait is killing me and I'm not even two weeks in. Today, to take my mind off it, I washed, waxed and sealed the 3.0TDi (all in my rather amateurish way). It looks gorgeous, but as an exercise in taking my mind off the wait for the S4, it failed. :(

I spent most of the day washing and waxing the family transport a VW Jetta. It's door dented, scratched and has kerbed alloys but I just can't help myself. :)

Ahhh the waiting game is cruel...No amount of time spent on 'tinternet browsing the many different images, watching countless videos of S4 exhaust mods (the only way to hear one) and then checking, double checking...then triple checking my options list could ease the pain, in fact I think I made it worse so then really tried to be 'chilled out' about the whole thing...that didn't work either! I realise this post is of no use either Jeff - I'm sorry:(
Have you tried a new hobby?
Knitting?

...boy - will the wait be worth it though:D

Something else I need to think about is, once I have the S4, what enhancements and additional functionality I can activate through VCDS coding. I don't have VCDS myself at the moment, but if I can assemble a long enough list of things to tweak, then I can invite @NHN up to weave his own special brand of magic. Who knows, I might even persaude Nigel to trust me with my own copy of VCDS.

So how about hitting me with some ideas, guys?

Slightly off topic, but not fully :D

Just a few questions about VCDS

Does it effect your warranty in anyway?
Will it thro' anything up when they plug your Audi into their computer at the workshops?
If Audi do any software updates/recalls will this reset all your VCDS work?

Just had an email to say they're working out the revised order this afternoon.

Come on! Knock yourselves out!

Sales lady just called with further news. Their systems haven't yet been updated with the new MY criteria, so they can't actually load the revised order on and confirm the exact numbers. But it's definitely agreed that the car will have Sports Diff, Parking Advanced, Phone Prep Low, Hill-Hold Assist and Main Beam Assist.

Be a day or two before I get it all formalised in writing.

Sigh...........:(

Popped into Bexley Audi whilst walking the dog this evening, spoke to the sales lady.

Sure enough, my car has shifted from build week 24 to..........

build week 23!!!!!!!!!!

Who-hooh! :rockwoot:

@t8ups has excelled himself on the customer service, even by his own already high standards. He's labelled the bulbs to make sure I don't put 'em in the wrong places.

I know the 2 in the middle are xenon match fog light bulbs, but what are the rest for Jeff?
Thought the S4 came with LED's as standard in the ILP :uhm:

Would you PM me the cost of all the above delivered plez my friend :thumbs up:

Those are the only ones that are. I checked with T8ups, and all the other lights, door, puddle, roof, glovebox and boot are yellow incandescent.

You guys confident enough to tackle yourself, just wondering how tricky the internal lights would be? I think I could handle the fogs (I say I think??)
